I am 25 years old and I have strong memories of my elementary school music teacher telling us the story behind this piece of music (before playing it for us) and it has always stuck with me. One of the first stories from folklore that genuinely terrified me, yet at the same time I loved it! The music is eerily mesmerizing. Kudos on the brilliant animation!

The sheer terror, the urgency, of the poem combined with the song and animation is just spot on. Very happy to have watched your video. Even happier to show this to my German classes. I love this. This is we learned this in music class and my teacher showed this to my class. This is one of the only songs I remember from that class. It is a power and sad piece that I love till this day. Not to mention the animation is stunning.
