#12for12 I’m all in!!

“Then he brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple, and I looked, and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the temple of the Lord. And I fell on my face.

"This shall be their inheritance: I am their inheritance: and you shall give them no possession in Israel; I am their possession.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭44:4, 28‬ ‭

These verses really stuck out to me today. In verse 4 Ezekiel fell on his face once again when he saw God’s glory! When we see God’s glory the only correct response would be to do that! I can’t wait till I get to be in Heaven and be with Him in all his glory! Also in verse 28 I thought I was so cool how God said he is their inheritance and possession. God provided for their day to day needs and they were not to get caught up in worldly things or business. God provides for his people and is our portion! It’s so encouraging to know we have a Heavenly Father who loves us more than anything and provides for us!

#12for12 🙌🙌🙌 praying this morning that I would see God for who he says he is in his scripture! Ezekiel 44 laying it out for me today describing how the priests who were to serve in the temple were to be holy, as they represented their holy God. Today I serve the same God. Even though I am made right by Jesus Christ with this same God, I still need the attitude of humility before him. I need to be holy as he is holy, not because I need to earn salvation, rather because I have been saved I desire to be like Christ who set his example for me to follow!

Ezekiel 44:15-16

Rules for Levitical Priests

[15] “But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the people of Israel went astray from me, shall come near to me to minister to me. And they shall stand before me to offer me the fat and the blood, declares the Lord GOD. [16] They shall enter my sanctuary, and they shall approach my table, to minister to me, and they shall keep my charge.

“I have decided to follow Jesus...Though none go with me, still I will follow. No turning back, no turning back.”

I am thankful for passages like this that remind me that in the midst of people rebelling against God there were a few who still followed God. I pray that we would see the wide and narrow path and know that even though not many will go with us, we will be with Christ one day.

Bless the Lord! Oh my soul! He is worthy to lose all things for!

They shall have linen turbans on their heads, and linen undergarments around their waists. They shall not bind themselves with anything that causes sweat. No priest shall drink wine when he enters the inner court.
Ezekiel 44:18, 21

This morning I was very confused on what to gain out of this chapter, so I went to listen to a sermon from Chuck Smith on these 2 verses. These 2 verse alone imply and expect a lot from us who say we want to follow Christ. In context, the Lord is telling the priests that these are specific things that they need to do if they are to enter the presence of the Lord. They can’t sweat or be filled with wine.

These 2 ideas have implications for us today. These 2 ideas are ways that God wants us to worship Him! He doesn’t want us to sweat or He doesn’t want us to worship Him out of necessity. It wants our pure heart. He wants it to be natural, not forced. He doesn’t want us to be filled with wine or he doesn’t want us to serve or worship out of a false motivation or substance. No pride, no envy, no gain!! If we are going to serve the Lord, it needs to be for His glory and not ours!!

I spent time this morning praying that God would remove any prideful desire from my life. I want to surrender all to Him and see Him revive my school, but if I’m doing it out of wanting to boost myself up, then that revival is never going to happen. I want to serve the Lord out of my own desire to see His name glorified and only through that!!

4 Then he brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple, and I looked, and behold, the glory of the LORD filled the temple of the LORD. And I fell on my face. 5 And the LORD said to me, “Son of man, mark well, see with your eyes, and hear with your ears all that I shall tell you concerning hall the statutes of the temple of the LORD and all its laws. And mark well the entrance to the temple and all the exits from the sanctuary. 6 And say to the rebellious house, 1 to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD: O house of Israel, enough of all your abominations, 7 in admitting foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and flesh, to be in my sanctuary, profaning my temple, when you offer to me my food, the fat and the blood. You2 have broken my covenant, in addition to all your abominations. 8 And you have not kept charge of my holy things, but you have set others to keep my charge for you in my sanctuary. “say to the rebellious house, to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD: O house of Israel, enough of all your abominations” Ezekiel 44:6

This verse really stood out to me because it shows that God had had enough with the abominations of the house of Israel. God is holy does not like unrighteousness, but rather he wants us to obey Him. The verse reminded me of Shane’s sermon at United on Friday and of Romans 2:8

“but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.”

Great to see Brother Steve Brown.
Great message, thank you Scripture of the day. Can't wait for the Book of the 12!!! 12 for 12!
Ezekiel 44:7 in admitting foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and flesh, to be in my sanctuary, profaning my temple, when you offer to me my food, the fat and the blood.
Great reminder to this weekends sermon, Acts 8:22 Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you. and Romans 8.
Just because we go through the steps of Baptism or the Lord's supper (Communion) if their is no circumcision in our hearts, if we are not living in the spirit instead of the flesh. It does nothing and can be a stumbling block to salvation if we think these things save us.

Also Ezekiel 44:19 And when they go out into the outer court to the people, they shall put off the garments in which they have been ministering and lay them in the holy chambers. And they shall put on other garments, lest they transmit holiness to the people with their garments. shows that Gods glory should leave a residue on our lives. Reminds me of Luke 8:44 and Mark 5:25-30. His Glory should leave a residue that transfers to others. As we live for him, others will see it and glorify his name.
Praise the Lord.

12 for 12 lets go!!

"They shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean" ~ Ezekiel 44:23

This verse really stood out to me today because it shows how important it was to God for the Levitical Priests to know the difference between the holy and the common. They needed to be able to teach everyone else how to live a life pleasing to the Lord by leading by example. This is so important for us too! We need to be able to distinguish between the holy and common and we are able to do this by diving into the word and seeing what it says!! Praying for encouragement for our church in sotd so that we may be able to more easily see what God wants us to do in all situations!

#12for12 🙌🏻

“They shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.” ~Ezekiel 44:23

This is what faithful servants of God do- righteous pastors & leaders who call people to holiness and teach well how to apply God’s Word.

“Let is hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the Day drawing near.” ~Heb. 10:23-25

“Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.” ~Lev. 19:2

I’m praying for our church- that God purifies us and grows us in holiness and boldness & love toward one another. The more we dive into and dig deep into Scripture, the more He will show us his glory and grow us to be more like Him! I’m praying for myself- that God would root out all my pride and make me to be more like Christ.

#12for12 full send coming right up!!!

"...Thus says the Lord GOD: 'O house of Israel, enough of all your abominations...'" (Ezekiel 44:6)

from the very beginning God has just wanted to be our God, and for us to be his people... and the one thing that has always kept us from God is our sin. In this statement where God is telling Israel once again to put away their sin, it just sinks in how God has been so patient and he must so earnestly want Israel to repent so they would be in close communion with him. THIS is how they will get to see his glory! THIS is how their loves were meant to be lived!
I am considering this morning for myself how God wants all of my sin to die. There is no sin that is currently present in my life which God does not hate, and which is not keeping me from loving him more. If I am to experience any true sanctification in my life, and if I am to love God more, I must seek out the sin in my heart and put it to death! "Search me O God, and no my heart! Try me, and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!" (Psalm 139:23-24)

“But the Levites who went far from me, going astray from me after their idols when Israel went astray, shall bear their punishment.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭44:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The Levites were being lead astray and ended falling for idols. But why? They completely forgot who God was and the joy that is in Him. In their minds they eneded up forgetting the goodness of the Lord and looked to others things to find their happiness in. For me, it can be easy to think that doing things for the Lord is work but rather, I should be find it as a joy to do it! That my joy would be found in doing things for Him, especially knowing how good He is. Today I plan to meditate on Psalm 16:11

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭16:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Really chew and think how there is this Fullness of Joy in His presence and the things of Him!

I’m going 12 for 12!!

““This shall be their inheritance: I am their inheritance: and you shall give them no possession in Israel; I am their possession.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭44:28‬

I thought verses 28-31 were so interesting, especially this idea of the Lord being the Levitical priests’ inheritances! Thinking about this, along with their very specific instructions for holiness and how to serve God is so amazing because it shows they really needed nothing else for life other than God as their inheritance and the food that he provided for them. Although this isn’t exactly what these verses are saying, it’s a reminder for me that I can do nothing on my own or by my own power, but must have the Lord. I’m reminded that I need nothing for my life to be complete when Christ is my possession, and I want to hold on to him and obey him and become like him more and more each day. I’m praying today that I would love the Lord so much more and would truly live like he is all that I need, trusting him with my whole life and running harder to pursue holiness!

“Inheritance” in verse 28 can also be translated possession or portion, which made me think of Lamentations 3:24!

“"The Lord is my portion, " says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him."”

"I am to be the only inheritance the priest have. You are to give them no possession in Israel; I will be their possession" Ezekiel 44:28

The Lord is our inheritance! worldly possessions will never satisfy us or give us joy. When we have God we have everything! I pray that God will help me not want the riches of this world but that I will only want him and serve him.
