That girl with curls had me thinking how is she portrayed as ugly and then I suddenly noticed none of these girls are ugly. The people who shame them, are. I too wear spects, have braces, am 4'11, mostly shy and everyone does find creative ways to call me ugly but quite honestly, I do not care. I live with myself, not the society. If you find me ugly then you're the one with bad taste. I love myself and I always will. This ad is very true because I still remember as a 9yr old kid, I used to look at myself and think, "Am I beautiful? Yes, for me but no for others, maybe." That bothered me a lot when I was a kid but not anymore.

Please convey my admiration to the person who thought of this. Specially the school girl in uniform with haldi. You took away my heart.

I have never watched a full ad on youtube willingly but this one really caught my eye. I think every Indian girl has faced this in her childhood. Kudos to the whole team for making such an amazing ad! ❤️❤️

No matter the many ads that Dove makes, the industry will always define fair as beautiful in India.
Literally every fashion and beauty brands associates only with fair skinned models.

The irony is all these girls are pretty just the way they are, I'm not even sugarcoating it.

I'm sitting with my dadi watching tv... ad break is running..
This ad starts...
As soon as the mother puts that paste on the girl's face... my grandmother says *tere saath bhi yahi karna padega* while smiling... not knowing what the ad is actually talking about..

💯 lost so much confidence as a teenager... actually these Beauty standards have spoiled a million girls lives who settle for less than wat they deserve only to suffer later...i request to all u mothers not to underestimate ur daughter and not let anyone else belittle them, not even their father 🙏🙏🙏

my name is Aditi, and I can relate to the first girl (her name is also Aditi). I've always hated my complexion. my mother is very fair, but my dad is a bit dark-skinned. whenever I'm out in public with my mother, people often mistake me for her "friend's daughter" or "Neighbour's daughter". My father always told me he wished I looked like my mother. Because of this, I grew so insecure to the extent that I did everything and anything to get rid of my "ugly, black skin". And like the second girl I used to be extremely insecure about my weight. I used to starve myself for 4-5 days and refuse to eat anything. I was 6 when that happened. SIX. I am gradually learning to love myself for just the way I am. If any parent is reading this, I ask you not to shame your child for things which they are born with or cannot control, instead teach them to love their flaws and embrace them because those flaws are what makes them unique. FYI being dark-skinned, chubby, having curly hair or having acne is NOT ugly. they are beautiful qualities which make a person who they are. Thank you so much dove for making this

I just watched this recently and it had been revolving in my mind often since then. I can relate to this and really wanted my mom to watch it too. I just showed this to her and now writing this comment. I was stunned and felt realised how this happens and has happened to almost every school going girl. I appreciate you, Dove. Wonderful campaign.
