Italo Disco was a great move in the 80s!! Every song performed by italian artists left their mark in music history!! I love this original song and a cover that Laura Brannigan performed later on!!What a decade!!

I’ve been binging Laura Branigan’s music lately and find RAF’s version to be more club oriented. Both sing the song really earnest and approach the material great. Laura’s version has this cold, robotic, yet mysterious vibe to it. It is intriguing. RAF’s version has an energetic bass punch that catches you off guard. Both versions are great. Love them both. 🥰😷🔥🎸🎼🎧

En España está canción fue un autentico bombazo que estuvo en el primer puesto durante mucho tiempo en 1984. Con 14 años, recuerdo escucharla hasta la saciedad desde la pequeña radio de mi padre. Poco tiempo despues, salio la versión de Laura Branigan. Con el tiempo y la edad mi más absoluta sorpresa de saber que la original de una de las mejores canciones italo disco de los 80 era completamente desconocida por mucha gente y solo se conocia la versión posterior cantada por otra persona. En mi opinión, el self control de Raff que baile y disfrute en su momento, es la canción (que no versión) original y meritoria. Grande Raff!!!

Sono nato nel 1969, e l'ho ballata ascoltandola da un disco in vinile. Grandi feste in parrocchia, ragazze profumate e grandi pomiciate... Grandissimi anni '80.

Fun fact: a very talented italian songwriter/producer, late Giancarlo Bigazzi, who wrote "Self Control" with Raf, co-wrote "Gloria" with Umberto Tozzi, both songs were covered by Laura Branigan (RIP) few years later.
