I think that DJI missed the boat not allowing controller only flight with a smartphone. Maybe DJI's main interest is more in selling the goggles than the drone? Maybe DJI will catch on that some people don't want to have a spotter with them when flying this drone, or simply hate the idea of using goggles.

It's a cool drone for what it is. It doesn't give you the kind of video a normal Mavic or Phantom gives you, it's different video than what an FPV drone gives you, so it's a nice mix. If you need video looking straight down, you'll still need a Mavic, so it doesn't replace the Mavics, but it's a good add-on for camera drone people who like the look of unstabilized FPV video. Just don't crash it.

As an amateur even I can see this FPV RTF has a few drawbacks. Fragility being the biggest complaint but it also puts the other RTF FPV manufacturers on notice. People want a simpler less programmer intensive FPV quad. Not everyone is into the complex build then programming through betaflight process. Make preprogrammed RTF quads and bundle them with a popular optional set of goggles, like the DJI V2 or whatever, smart batteries, and a popular transmitter/controller and I think people will jump at it. Many will already have the goggles and TX. Especially if it can take a hit and keep flying. Some people are flyers, some are builders/programmers, and some like both. JMHO. Utilize the advanced tech of GPS and maybe even a fail-safe to get out of jam so that the drone will right itself and hover while the pilot reorients. I agree; this DJI FPV is a step in the right direction to show what can be done.

I get 5’ on 4s...ripping.. that $150 battery will give you maybe 7’ “ripping” for 5 times the price of a LiPO. Note that 5’ flying intensely in the goggles feels much longer than usual. :-).
Long range? Yes if you get authorized by the software and don’t fly above 500m..

I'll stick to my mini 2, at least I can fly that when I'm by myself, unlike this, I also like to know that my props are securely held on, if those are so easy to put on & take off, what's to say they wont come off in flight

7 mins in sport mode and that's not full throttle ....I've yet to see anyone get over 10mins in sport....lots of bullshit flying around in regards to this drones battery life....beware of the bullshit

pretty similiar here cause dji has castrated the fpy drone box cause you can not reuse the goggles with an air unit.

If you want to then it needs at least the fpv 1 remote cause that can connect but not the new remote 2.

Remote 1 comes at a price of 329€ ... and the new one Remote 2 which comes in the box comes for 150€ alone.
They do not want us to buy the fpv drone and sell the drone to get the fpv system with remote and airunit.

People new to drones need to understand they may not be able to practice/fly DJI products on their own property depending on their airspace class. My Mini has been geofenced TO THE EXTREME, even though I can and do get LAANC approval, the DJI unlocking app is very burdensome. Not to be a party pooper, but being able to practice in one's area where one lives is something a potential purchaser might want to consider. I am still waiting for what I hope will be a robust refurbished market to buy a toy I know I will crash.

It just has too many negatives. If I could fly it like a cinewhoop it would be great. I can hit a tree with a cinewhoop and fly away no problem and all parts are available if I do break something. The dji fpv quad would be like flying a mavic in acro hoping you dont bump into a tree and destroy it. I would only fly it like a mavic and then have the short 10 minute flights and less quality video. I think a beginner would be better off with a prebuilt cinewhoop that you just bind to the dji radio and goggles. If they just want good video a mavic would be better.

Response to your points. 1. I can land for a sec. 2. If it only puts a little orange or red warning its useless. 3. I can walk more than 10 meters, not a big deal. 4. The gimbal is interesting, but a fixed angle is more desirable 5. My batteries are 30.00 each they give me around 5 more for 5 more min is insane. 6. Popo for gods sake man, DJI's prop is cheap plastic 7. If you don't take note of where you are standing when you take off and need the virtual H....well I don't know what to say to you aside from laughing. 8. We can all do that as far as sharing video. 9. The only thing you can do with the DJI is change its rates....thats it...no tuning, no custom LED's, nothing....if you find Betaflight to hard there is always Flight One, or Emuflight. If you find those difficult you should stick to best buy toys. Its a whale product. Best long range ? No.
