After weeks of criticism from victims of mass floods in Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced further financial aid to help reconstruct Valencia on Wednesday. It’s the third package the devastated region has received from the Spanish government and includes 60 measures "designed to speed up the return to normality,” according to Sanchez.

“This new package will include new aid, new credit resources, legal facilities of various kinds for a total value of 2,274 million euros (€2.3 billion),” Sanchez said during a press conference.

The federal government’s response to the disaster has been described by many as delayed and ineffective. The deadly floods affected some 80 municipalities in the province of Valencia.

Many have even called for the resignation of Valencian government president Carlos Mazón, who has been blamed for mishandling the emergency response. The October floods resulted in the deaths of roughly 220 people in the span of two weeks, and has left at least five others missing.
