Our family just moved to the US last year after being in China forever too. My wife is Chinese and my two kids were both born in China, and I lived there for 17 years. We chose Eugene, Oregon when we got to the US. It's got a Chinese Immersion School public school that my kids are going to and my wife is working at, and its going excellent. The University of Oregon is here, so a lot of international students and professors through there, so we've connected with a lot of Chinese friends here. The weather is never too hot, never too cold, always mild. The surrounding nature is epic, some of the best on the planet I'd suggest (and we were in Lijiang for many years, so nature beauty was key). It has absolutely been the perfect spot for us, and I don't think we'll leave here ever, at least not until our kids are grown up.

I saw you when you were in China trying to buy a house. It's a strange feeling seeing you buying a house at the worst time. Then I haven't seen you for a while. All of sudden this popped up. I was eager to know how you are doing. It's a strange feeling, like we were old friends lost contact, all of sudden we met again. I'm happy you survived the harsh time in China.

I'm glad you picked Cary. I went to State a long, long time ago when Cary was just a small town. Then The Research Triangle drew so many tech people from all over the country and many of them chose Cary for their homes. That is how Cary became the lovely city you like today. Hope you enjoy living there.

I'm from NC and now living in Shenzhen. I've been watching you for a while now. The triangle is a great place to live and I think you made a great choice. You are a few hours drive from the beach or the mountains. It's safe, diverse, and vibrant. I would try to buy a house as soon as possible though as the prices will only go up as more and more people make the same choice as you did. I hope you and your family enjoy your new life there!

New England is a great place to live, I know many people who moved from the Carolinas to here and they like it much better. I live in Peterborough, NH...It's a great town, very peaceful, good schools along with beautiful country for hiking, skiing, beautiful lakes and mountains. It's not far from the ocean either...You can go to Vermont and Maine which are very close. We also don't get the crazy extreme weather that they get in the rest of the country.

Welcome to Cary. My family lived here for over 20 years. We like here, very family friendly. A little boring compared to big cities. But there are a lots of green ways.

living in Laguna Niguel CA. Great suburb, not many people know this city, we are 10 mins to Laguna beach and 5 mins to Dana point. Weather is great, people are so nice. Love it here so so much.

Lived in Boston for almost 10 years, did my school at Duke previously, now moving back to RTP area. Both Boston and NC are great, I would live in Boston during the summer, and live in NC during the fall and winter.

I'm so sure you are doing the right thing. I live in New York, and one of my neighbors just moved to North Carolina months before, once he got a remote job. He couldn't stop smiling when he mentioned his new home. ❤❤❤😊

When I hear “ not so far from the mountain or the sea” and “ four seasons” the first place that came to my mind was north Catalina, Raleigh specifically. Visited there a few times. Great experience. Really miss it.

A smart decision. If you are new to Cary, please join the groups to know the local area more and sooner. I live in Cary. Apex, Morrisville and Cary are close and they are all good places. Few small towns around this area are not a bad choice either.

Good choice! Big cities are great when you are young. After getting kids, family friendly area is definitely what you want more.

Sacramento area has hot but dry summer so no mosquitoes. Cary maybe mild in summer but has got mosquitoes problem and humid. I am in Rocklin, 30 minutes North Sacramento, got Good schools, green city with a lot of parks, very safe city, family friendly, home price is affordable for young family with kids, most people here are from the Bay Area, close to Folsom lake, American river, Lake Tahoe, SFO, Only cons is the hot summer .

Wow, welcome to Cary. The first minute I saw this video when you talk about the criteria and your background, I guess this is where it is.

I remember seeing your videos about buying a condo in Shanghai during the pandemic. Today this video popped up that piqued my interest. Thanks for sharing about your journey. When Sacramento made your top two list I was almost excited for you. I am from Taiwan and have lived in the Bay Area for the past 24+ years. I think this or even Norcal like Sacramento is the best for Chinese-speaking folks. There are so many Ranch 99 or Asian markets/restaurants and communities here The weather is great (I hate cold weather and don't care about snow as I used to live in Utah for 5 years). We have a beautiful coastline, and lots of quaint seaside towns with miles upon miles of beach, We have tall mountains with redwood trees to go hiking and relax. There is no shortage of outdoor things to do and to be in nature. Then it's the diversity in culture, etc., etc. And as you mentioned West Coast is easier to fly back to China. But NC sounds cool too; I have heard good things about it. Best wishes for settling down there. I enjoyed watching your videos.
