Last second method. Before uninstall, is it necessary to click on delete driver for this device?

Thank you so much for this, I tried so many things and nothing worked. I used the last method.
I understand nothing of computers, I couldn't find admin cmd on my laptop so I entered the commands in Windows Powershell (Admin). It worked. I went back to services and changed windows audio service to log on as local service (it was local system service earlier) and it was asking for a password. I left those blank and it worked.
Then I restarted my computer and the sound was back on.

I explained so much just in case someone was as lost as me and couldn't figure out exactly what to do. Hopefully, it'll help someone.

If after this doesn't as it didn't for me you take your external speakers and go into in my case RealTek HD Audio Manager after you set up Speakers as default, select the Microphone settings which will turn speakers into both normal Speakers and Microphones as this will show what port you are plugged into. Its a trip. Turn the Record audio all the way up and the Playback audio all the way down to get good clean sound. You will then be able to use the nob on your speakers to turn up the sounds or the computer slider bar. It wouldn't use my NVIdia audio drivers so this was my work around and I could not get audio working correctly on my webcam till I did all this.

My laptop's microphone suddenly stopped working. I needed a mic for online classes. I've been using my phone to attend classes for a week. Thanks, it saved me. God bless.

Many users reported that installing High Definition Audio Device driver instead of IDT High Definition Audio CODEC etc. solved the problem for them. We can try this last solution before we resort to a system restore or doing a clean installation.

Now press Windows + X to launch the quick start menu and select “Device Manager” from the list of options available.
Once in the Device manager, expand “Sound, video and game controllers” category.
Right-click on your sound device and select “Update Driver”. Now an option will come forth whether to install the drivers automatically or manually. Select “Browse my computer for driver software”.

Now select “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer”.

Uncheck the option “show compatible hardware” to ensure that all the results are listed in your drivers list. Navigate through all the drivers until you find “High Definition Audio Device”. Select it and press Next.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Restart your computer and check if the problem is solved.
