Preach, Scotty. I learned my lesson last month. Had a minor accident where we cracked the bumper. Obviously, we admitted fault and reported the accident. HOWEVER, now the crooked host and repair shop are trying to tack on preexisting damages to the claim, and Turo is doing absolutely nothing about it! I am so glad I took thorough shots of the car before the accident. If they don’t resolve the matter they’ll be hearing from our lawyer.

I’m a host on Turo and it’s not bad Scotty. Cars are insured under travelers and car usually are taken care of more then rental car companies

Honestly my only experience with it was not bad. I only used it to rent the cheapest car possible lol. I rented a 10 year old car for like half the price of what car rental companies would charge and that’s including the insurance. $400 for 10 days and unlimited miles is not a bad deal for me. Bonus points is that the owner wouldn’t care too much about it because its an older model.

Since I have a so so credit card limit renting a car is not easy for me. When I tried Turo it was super easy and I was able to enjoy my Vegas trip.

You have some points. However, Turo is helpful because it allows people to rent outside of business hours. Rental companies in small cities close at lunchtime on Saturdays, stay closed all day Sunday! Turo allows people to pick up/return cars on Sundays & Saturday afternoons, and night hours. It provides a great service to people who need to rent a car, when they need to rent a car! Turo offers services to your local community that regular car rental places don't offer. What good is a car rental business if it's closed on nights & weekends, or closed when people have an emergency? Car rental brick & mortar businesses are useless in this respect! Turo provides a way to have more of a "Mom & Pop" community business. You are right about the risks, but I hope there is a way Turo can get better.

Used Turo this last weekend, rented a 2016 Acura RDX with a flawless reviews of the vehicle and owner. Drove well the first day, died on the second and I had to boost it 7 times to get home from my trip. What a nightmare.

I tried turo once. The guy brought an old car but couldn’t meet me at the airport. I had to go to an area distance away to meet him. Then he doesn’t have any documentation like registration and insurance cards for the card. When I questioned him, he said his sister had the papers. It’s was very shady. Don’t know if he stole the car or what. Eventually, I turned down the car and rented from Alamo which cost me a lot since I needed one that day and did not reserve it. Never again.

do a very good inspection before renting any car. the rental company will charge you for damaging it, usually the front valence from hitting a parking curb. if you dont check it and point out any damages YOU are responsible for damaging it when they find it.

I was about to rent a tesla through turo whole I work on my corolla. I'm sure it's fine if you rent from a 5 star owner with a lot of reviews.

My nephew and a partner got into renting their car, Their very first renter got druck and totaled their car. They got the call from the police not the renter. I think the renter just bailed on the car.

My grandson has been making a great living for 5 year renting cars out. I think he has like 20 or so now from Tesla to Ferrari all high dollar.

I have had excellent experiences with Turo. Cheaper and far more convenient.

Better yet, don't rent a car PERIOD. Either have someone you know personally drive you around, or use public transportation. Nowhere near as many clusterfucks.
