Just been told my best friend has got this he's 9 and a half and getting the tests done on Thursday. I'm so scared don't want to lose him

My 9 year old King Charles was diagnosed a couple days ago with a stage 5 murmur. She was put on Vetmedin, enacard and furosemide. Vet did xray and said heart is at 85%. He wants to do an ultrasound. It's a lot of money for the ultrasound. We already know things aren't good for her...would an ultrasound be worth it at this point? He mentioned that the average dog when starting these meds lives about 300 days give or take - some live longer, some shorter. SInce she already is at a stage 5 murmur would you suggest an ultrasound?

our dog peanut is a border collie and was just diagnosed with a grade 4 heart murmur he is a middle-aged boy. I see now that it has to be properly looked at by a vet with diagnostic testing which they are doing x-rays now not sure if they are going to do any more testing. The nurse called and asked if peanut had been coughing he has not but he does fatigue quickly. Fingers crossed with the testing I will know more today.

I had 2 dogs but one sadly passed on Boxing Day here in Australia. Monty had lung and heart problems and was in a lot of pain so we put him down and now our other dog Mia (Monty’s sister) has a heart murmur. The vets are uncertain what stage it’s at but we have an X-ray booked so they can see the size of the heart. I’m super worried about Mia and hope it isn’t that bad. Recently we had a dog who passed away suddenly with grade 4 heart murmur, he just turned 9. when he was 2 he passed is echo / Doppler test for prescreening before we used him for breeding. Could you tell me how or why would a perfect healthy dog passing all nessary testing would develop such a severe health problem so young?

What most concerns me is now he has reproduced because he was clear at age 2 and he had children and grandchildren. What are the ramifications of those results?

I'm totally upset because this totally blows away the idea of health screening dogs before we use them for breeding thinking we are preventing health problems and we still get them.
