Lady Gaga has been singing Jazz for over 10 years and this still surprises some people.

I actually disagree about Lady Gaga for the most part about "having" to do mainstream content. I think she does pop and crazy stuff that goes mainstrea, m because she LOVES it, as much as she LOVES more classic genres of music like jazz and country. I think she's one of the few people who's proven her chops in multiple genres, AND she loves things like art, fashion, and film. A lot more creatives are like this than we think, but Gaga is one of the few who's PROVEN she does an amazing job in almost every project she does.

She's one of those rare true creatives who is both shrewd enough and bombastic enough to navigate multiple media of art and music, whereas many people tend to fail when they try to break out of their comfort zones. I'm sure she HAD to do certain things for money, and she has a fairly documented history of failures to break out into the career she has today, but even her craziest stunts, I think, brought her joy to try.

As someone who's lost multiple family members to Alzheimers, watching that 60 Minutes special when it first came out hit me especially hard in the feels. Seeing his performance on stage as the disease has taken so much from him at that point, and seeing the genuine joy in his eyes, when normally you know that his day is likely filled with confusion and frustration (as it is for most elderly people at that stage), it really made me emotional. Regardless of any small nuances in style, I'm glad that Lady Gaga was able to help give Tony one last performance. I imagine these videos will be something his loved ones will cherish for years to come.

Let us make one thing clear, Gaga is and always has been proud of her work in the pop world. The controversies and boundary busting moments were not in vain, she was intelligent about her work – which always had meaning and purpose behind them.

My voice teacher in my master's degree for opera LOVED Lady Gaga. Her vocal technique is absolutely incredible, and she has some classical training! I really feel like she can sing almost any genre.

I see nothing wrong with her pop background occasionally showing when she sings jazz. She's always been a bit eccentric visually and musically and I think that's a good thing. It's art, not a rigidly defined process. You shouldn't have to sound like a carbon copy of Ella Fitzgerald just to earn your stripes. If it sounds pleasant to your ears that's all that matters.

Lady Gaga has done a tremendous job at introducing jazz to a younger audience.

As a non-jazz musician, I personally really love their chemistry and the fact that they're having so much fun, and because of Lady Gaga I was able to introduce these songs to my sister and we both fell in love with Tony Bennett while doing so, so I think this collab is great for making jazz a bit more mainstream

That's camp, not corny! She is the queen of camp, that comes naturally to her. Part of the fun, trully.

I am a huge fan of Lady Gaga’s performance of “Bang, Bang” from the Live at Jazz at Lincoln Center concert!

I am deeply moved by how considerate and kind and thoughtful Gaga was to Tony at 9:57 by starting the song and making sure he felt comfortable <3

People are still asking if Lady Gaga is any good in the year 2022? It's just willful ignorance at this point.

I’m a classical musician, my classically trained singer colleagues are wowed by Gaga’s flexibility and ability.

It's interesting: every time Lady Gaga performs with Tony, it seems like she feels compelled to make "Big Choices" vocally/physically (accents/distortions/intonations, etc) - even though she's shown that she's perfectly capable of singing in this style without all that sort of stuff. So I've always wondered if she felt like she had to do more because she's duetting with THE Tony Bennett, and is worried she'll otherwise fade into the background because he's such a powerhouse even to this day. Or maybe she's just a theatre kid who loves making big choices at random. :)

It also must be said that probably the reason he and Gaga are so close is that they're both Italian American New Yorkers and have a connection beyond the art, which is sweet.

Listen to any live performance of Lush Life. She sings it clean and smooth and arrangement is structured to fit her style, but the soulful approach that she is doing singing this song is her best jazz experience ever! she gets it! sometimes she is corny, playful, theatrical and pop sounded, but when it’s down tempo emotional and with heavily jazzed up chord progressions and modulations like Lush Life provides, she performs it like no other. and also in Bang Bang (which is pop song originally) her cadences of the final phrase is ridiculously unexpected and not quite jazzy, but she has great ear and she can handle it as she pleases. she just loves singing jazz and that shows.

As someone who doesn't listen to jazz, lady gaga really made it much more accessible to me. If she wasn't on there, i wouldn't have bothered to take a listened but because of her, i gave it a listen and i absolutely loved it! I checked out Tony's albums and loved most of them. I'm glad they worked together

I feel like lady gaga is the type of artist that makes whatever she feels like making. She could come out with the most horrendously offensive pop song and then release a nursery rhyme about slides.

Fun fact: Lady Gaga's fashion like "The Meat Dress" or her "shocking performances" are nothing but art and a statement of certain topic. Everything she does has a meaning and it's committed to her pov of something in an artistic way. It's not for shocking or creeping tf out of people ✅❤️

Remember that, folks 🔥
