Survival cordage - 4 ways of quick natural cordage

This is a thorough show and tell of how to make rope or cordage, there and then in an survival situation. We will look at the 4 simplest way to make cordage for shelters, bowdrill, lashing, fishing and so on. These materials are typical for boreal forests, but the methods can be used in most parts of the world for a wide variety of plants and fibers.
I think this is a skill that often is overlooked, partly because cordage is something we think we have enough of, and partly because it is not as cool as other skills.

Very nicely demonstrated and respect from an old man who has been doing this for many years my friend . All the best from New Mexico U.S.

Very well shown! Thank you! I will have to practice in my Boreal Forest here. We have no stinging nettle in the forest, but we have spruce root and willow. Fireweed is also a source of fiber, although much weaker fiber than nettle.

I've found if you have time you can dry the nettle strands out before making the cord then dampening them again to make the cord it makes better longer lasting cord as by then the have shrunken down in the drying stage this makes for stronger thinner cord :)

It is a cord, according to the dictionary. Why does everyone call it cordage?
