I guess we have to stop celebrating the Native American tribes also. Even before Columbus came to America, the Natives were slaughtering, raping, and torturing smaller and weaker tribes. How about their rights against the Navajos, Cherokees, and Apaches, to name a few, against their human rights crimes. Oh wait, that's right we aren't allowed to talk about the crimes that Natives commit.

To the lady at 1:16, don't we have teams like the Celtics, Buccaneers, and the Cowboys also to name a few. The only difference is that people don't take these names personal. It looks like people don't have anything better to do than complain about everything.

I am Italian American and love America. Columbus is was very brutal. I think Leif Erickson (Viking Explorer) and Native American Day would be a good replacement

It should be Columbus and Indigenous Peoples Day. Columbus, for sure, made some mistakes and tactical miscalculations, but almost all, if not all, of the crimes committed that are usually imputed to him, were actually committed by other Spaniards who traveled with him. Columbus, in fact, always insisted that all of the indigenous people should always be treated with the greatest dignity and respect. This is why the Spaniards (who were abusing the indigenous people) detested Columbus. His Holiness Pope Leo XIII most wisely wrote an Encyclical about Columbus. It is very short, and will not take more than ten minutes to finish reading.
