Helmet was in Austin at the Mohawk on Saturday night, May 4th 2024 in support of their Look Left tour. This was my second time seeing them at this venue, and they are just getting better and better. This was the second song of the encore.

I saw them probably around 20 years ago at the old Emo's in Austin. The bass player kept trying to get everyone to do a circle pit, to Helmet, which I thought was hilarious. But when the singer introduced the band, I realized it was Frank Bello, the bass player from Anthrax, which to me is one of the greatest thrash bands of all time. Then it made sense he was trying to start a circle pit. Dude has seen circle pits bigger than a trash gyre in the ocean! Helmet was just okay back in the day, but they were lucky to have Frank Bello with them on that tour. You could tell, he was multiple levels up above the rest of the band as far as being a performer and his musicality. #caughtinamosh

I can't believe how nobody mentions at 00:34 the black guy doing a dive from the stage, kneeing the guy in the first row in the head and he AUTOMATICALLY knows THE SHIT OUT OF HIM in the air. This is INSANE. To a point that the band notice the incident and at 01:30 it seems like the bassist acknowledges the badassery!

I recommend that you never miss an opportunity to see Helmet. Page Hamilton has only gotten better.
