My husband of 44yrs and I found your Netflix show, it is amazing! The first show moved us. The young fellow that came to Africa with you, seeing him at the wood archway on the beach, that all who were taken as slaves walked through, to be loaded on ships, seeing him break... we wept. You were the comfort, your smile the balm, your words wisdom. We have seen 3 episodes, it is the best thing ever! The joy, the people, the FOOD! Connections, it's life changing. I can't say enough, just thank you so much!

Dr. Harris is a gem! I have always enjoyed learning about history especially world history via other topics especially food. "High on the Hog, " was spectacular and I would love to have it shown in schools. This is an important documentary worthy of more than accolades but of awards; a a must watch.

Thank you so much for this documentary. My family on my mother side are Gullah Geechee from Georgetown, SC which is near Charleston. I was in tears when I saw the episode brought back so many memories of my grandparents cooking. I loved when my Grandmother would cook us Shrimp and Grits when we were kids.

West Africa, Benin, Ouidah is not only mentioned but visited yet the interpretation of the word is never given. The word Ouidah is Portuguese, it was a slave trading fort in the 18th century. The interpretation of Ouidah in English is “Judah”. This tells us exactly who we are and where we came from. Hebrews we’re sold to the new world, not Africans.
