For non-Chinese speakers, jiao zi 饺子, huntun 馄饨, baozi 包子, xiao longbao 小笼包, zongzi 粽子, tangyuan 汤圆 are somehow all called dumplings in English. It is challenging to tell which one at times.

In US, what I have seen so far:

煮的饺子： dumplings

煎的饺子: potsticker in chinese restaurant, Gyoza in Japanese restaurant.

馄饨：wonton

小笼包：soup dumplings (because there is soup inside)

包子：bao

馒头： steamed bun

葱油饼：scallion pancake

Dying in Italian 😂😂 Gnocchi are not dumplings 😅 on the other hand, in Italy, we have a great variety of dumplings (ie, agnolotti, cappelletti, ravioli, raviolacci, plin, ...)
