Opiates are the worst thing to get addicted to because they seem harmless at first. Those withdrawal symptoms are like walking through hell.

As a recovering pain pill addict of 5-7 years, he explains the addiction as well as I could. Made you feel like Superman, but next thing you know, you're hooked, and hooked bad. You can't go anywhere without counting pills to make sure you have enough. It literally controls your life. Been clean over a decade now and life is so much better.

I was hooked for fifteen years and he's spot on saying you get " up " . My wife and I went through 400 norcos in seven days ! It took thirty days of no sleep, anxiety from hell, and being able to eat only chocolate . Thank you Jesus for answering prayers that month !!!!

I love how honest he is about his addiction. Addiction is rough. Mad respect.

I used to be an opiate addict and I know exactly what this man felt. your tolerance builds fast when it comes to opiates.. at my worst I could easily take 20 percoecet 10mg a day or 300 + mg of oxy contin a day.. that would kill most people.. kids.. never do pain pills... if you like the feeling they give you, you will spend your whole paycheck on them (if you can hold down a job) i dont care if you rent/bills/etc ... IF you get hooked on opiates you will spend damn near ever cent you have on them.

Sooo someone can play an entire career addicted to Vicodin. But the NFL is banning players smoking weed?? I give up.

Popping Vicodin and playing QB for a professional sports team sounds like the best time ever. As someone who had an addiction to opiates I would say it def gave him an advantage cause in people like myself, Brett, and many others it gives you a confidence boost while making you feel like you’re on top of the world cause all that extra serotonin.

As someone who was hooked on heroin and kicked it cold turkey I have to say I admire Brett and his ability to manage his career while getting off of opiates.

Very brave of Brett to share this with everyone. Maybe it will help someone out who is going through something similar.

The honesty that you bring out is incredible, shocking even.. It's a breath of fresh air to actually hear the truth

That's just amazing. It proves that the "best" and most successful people can also be the ones who suffer the most internally.

Brett is 💯. Love everything about Brett as a person, and how that, transitioned over to the gridiron. Played with pure passion and will to win. Top 3 QB all time in my eyes. Thank you sir

Just another example of how tough this dude was. To have the strength to stop and the stones to be completely open about how hard it was. He’s a real hero of mine.

I love how honest he is, I had my issues with these after a broken back, it’s a vicious cycle especially when he had all the connections just feeding him.

Big pharma on Brett Favre: Damn! We lost one of our addicts.

much respect for Favre being so candid, & opening up his soul to the world!

What speaking openly like this does, is it tells other addicts who are in the closet that there is a way out. There's a life without this drug poisoning your body, every gaw'damn day.

As a fellow recovering addict & alcoholic I salute you Brett. This video alone, probably saved 100 struggling addicts who likely thought they would die from this affliction.

I remember when I realized something was wrong, or I was different from most people / non-addicts, and that was the moment Favre described. Most people would be knocked out or sleepy from opiates, but they affect me the same way they affect Favre, they gave me energy and boosted my mood.
The drug chooses the addict. I dabbled and experimented with all sorts of drugs in my teenage years, but once I had surgery and was prescribed oxycodone, it was a whole different beast. No other drug got it's hooks into me as fast as oxy. I still struggle with my addiction/recovery, but I know if I stay clean, just for today, I'll be ok.
