LITTLE MAN
There’s a man with a broken heart
and he wears cheap grey shoes
spends his days in the Panhandle
looking for something to do
every day it’s the same old thing
watching clouds float on by
look it’s starting to rain again
can’t see the tears in his eyes
A little man
with his old tin cup
newspaper folded up
don’t want to be nobody’s fool
and though he knows he’s just a little mad
he does the best he can
wants a piece of the pie
His blue eyes have seen better days
but his smile hides the pain
doesn’t know how it all went wrong
it’s so hard to make the grade
yes the bottle is an only friend
(his only friend)
plus the pigeons in the park
(fly, fly)
can’t remember his yesterdays
tomorrow has just begun
A little man
with his old tin cup
newspaper folded up
don’t want to be nobody’s fool
and though he knows he’s just a little mad
he does the best he can
wants a piece of the pie
