Great advice. My partner and I from Australia, plus a friend from Bulgaria had the most awesome week swimming with humpback in Vava'u Tonga in the second week in September 2023 having booked in November 2019... nearly 4 years of anticipation.

It exceeded our expectations at every level... the whales, the people & the food.
We had air temp of 23 min to 27 max. Water temp on my photos & videos taken on my Olympus Tough TG5 of 24 to 25 degrees. We had light weight full length wetsuits the whole 6 hours we were on / in the water for 5 days.

We had not realized that in winter there was a prevailing south easterly wind of 15 to 25 kph most days. Sometimes we were in the lee of islands in the calm water.

We were very lucky - 3 heat runs the first day - 2 swimmable, singers, tail slaps, breaches, mother and calf logging at the surface, or diving and rising from the depths. One calf rose up eyeballing me from a couple of metres away as it came to the surface. My guide pulled me back so I would not be clipped by a passing pec fin.
Some mothers and calves had one or two escorts. Some had none.

If you can swim with a professional photographer you will get much better videos & pics.
We chose a small family run resort on one of the outer islands, near to the whales. 8 guests max, 4 fales, 2 boats with twin motors and each with a skipper / spotter plus a whale swim guide. Never had to wait while others swam. We had the island to ourselves with full board and amazing meals...

It is not appropriate for me to advise the name of our resort as this is Nadia's video.
She does a great job and excellent advice.
