The Polygon Siskiu T9 is Almost Perfect, But...

Join us in the garage as we delve into the highs and lows of the Polygon Siskiu T9 mountain bike. In this in-depth video, we address some critical issues holding back this otherwise stellar ride, and implement key upgrades to elevate its performance to new heights.

At the heart of the matter lies a compromise common in the industry: while Polygon manages to keep costs down, certain components suffer. The stock setup, while featuring top-notch Fox suspension and TRP DHR EVO brakes, falls short in the tire and wheel department.

We dive straight into the problem, discussing the drawbacks of the heavy wheel setup and lackluster tires that come stock with the bike. But fear not, as we unveil three transformative upgrades that will unleash the full potential of the Polygon Siskiu T9.

First on the agenda is shedding weight and enhancing durability by converting to a tubeless setup. We explore the benefits and ease of this conversion, laying out the steps and costs involved.

Next, we tackle the issue of traction and performance with a tire upgrade. Say goodbye to the stock Maxxis Assegai tires, and hello to the improved grip and agility of Pirelli Scorpion tires.

But the transformation doesn't stop there. We address the Achilles' heel of the stock Entity wheels, opting for a more affordable yet high-performance alternative in the form of Hunt trail wide wheels. We delve into the specs and installation process, showcasing the potential impact on the bike's overall performance.

Join us on the trails as we put these upgrades to the test, tackling the Nighthawk trail to assess the bike's newfound capabilities. We provide honest feedback on the performance of each upgrade, revealing whether our efforts have truly made the Polygon Siskiu T9 a force to be reckoned with.

Don't miss out on the full breakdown of our experience and recommendations for future upgrades. Hit subscribe and stay tuned for more insights and adventures with the Polygon Siskiu T9.

I went with the exact same Hunt wheels for my T8, world of difference - new bike! Enjoy it. I got my T8 down from 36lbs to 32lbs now.

I love your T9 videos I wish I could contact bikes online and tell them to give you the credit you were 1 of my deciding factors for purchasing the T9 keep up the videos I’m working on changing tires and going tubeless next I’ve only had the bike for a week now and I love it

That's a nice wheel upgrade! I actually did something quite sinilar but with a Spank wheelset. Definitely some of the most important parts of the bike.

Cranks are also a great way to cut some weight, just bought a shimano slx crankset with an aftermarket cnc chainring, 590g! My budget xc hardtail weighs just above 11kg while still having 4 pot trp dhr evo brakes, 2.3mm rotors and slack geo. Descending is not as scary anymore, a life changer

I’m interested in the T9 for my next bike, and when I seen the wheel specs I already thought that those Hunt’s you got would be perfect. Then I seen this video. Good looking bike.

My Canyone Stoic HT also came with a heavy/cheap wheel set. I replaced them with some wheels I had from other bikes and also replaced the Schwalbe tires with some Rekon Race (tan) so it's a better 'cruiser' bike for XC and urban riding. Made a HUGE difference.

Cool video. I'm considering buying a polygon t8 or 9. I'll definitely consider these upgrades.

I put those Hunt Trail Wide tires on my hardtail and they've been pretty awesome.

I too went with the Trailwide V2’s last year and they’ve been fantastic for the money!

Awesome upgrades! I did the same with my YT Izzo and went from 29.3lbs to 27.5lbs. It is not as huge a difference as you, but I come from a XC racing background and love a light, efficient climber.

I upgradet my Carbon Stumpjumper Comp the same way ( 14.1 kg, 31 lb and 1.36 ounces with pedals) but went with the Elitewheel pro 36 (550 Euro) new tyres and so e other small changes. And the weight is now 12.9Kg ( 28 lb and 7 ounces).

It is completly different Bike now and I know exactly what you mean.

Cheers from Switzerland

Carbon bar and saddle. You’ve got yours similarly spec’ed to mine… shaved a ton of weight with wheels tires and tubes.
I threw a deity carbon bar and a wolf tooth dropped lever on and it’s great…. I just can’t get comfortable on the saddle which is my next change, then I’ll be done tinkering. Great videos and keep making great content!

I have the t8 with fox factory 36 and float x. Went full shimano xt drivetrain and brakes(with 203mm xtr rotors) put on the Hunt Proven UD cardon rims. Then a 50mm nukeproof stem with pnw loam carbon bars and pnw grips.
The tires l went with is 2.5 assegai 3c exo+ front and 2.4 dhr ii 3c exo+ rear. Wrb koda titanium seat and 1up dropper post. Went with a Cane Creek Hellbender head set. The bike is a BEAST.
I do wish l had the t9 color but the purple isnt to bad.

I've had some Hunt Trail Wide V1 wheels for three years now and they've been rock solid. Been through three sets of rear hub bearings and one freehub. Customer service is ace. It's usually wet and gritty here in the UK so the bearings get a hard life. The rims are good as new. They've taken everything I've thrown at them. Can't grumble especially as I only paid about £300 for the pair.

Great content. I smashed the like button. Another possible upgrade for weight savings could be the cassette, 12 speeds is kind of over kill for most riders and stainless steel is heavier.

I'm really lucky to have my riftzone 3 27.5" but that t9 in the green looks sweet

Trail one bars, stem and grips. Maybe an XT cassette but I’d call it after that. Great video Jared.

Been running the hunts for awhile!!! They have a great warranty as well with them. Even paid for my local LBS to repair the failed wheel so i wouldn't have to wait on shipping it.
