I have a BS in Astrophysics and an MS in Accountancy. My husband barely graduated high school. He ended up making more than I did so we decided I would stay at home with the kids. He translates between the engineers and the execs. All self taught.

I got so much shit from family and friends early on for picking someone who wasn’t going to college like I was at that time. I picked my husband bc he was smart, kind, and has good morals. From my perspective, I got super lucky finding someone like that in Los Angeles. 🤷‍♀️

We’ve been together over 20 years, married over 16 years. I still get shit from new friends saying I was crazy for marrying based on “potential.” 🙄

I’m a finish carpenter and have to make mathematical decisions on cuts and bending of wood angles etc. Her parents asked her didn’t she want more in a husband. She told them that I have 2 undergraduate degrees, a law degree, passed the bar but I’m not happy behind a desk.

My engineer husband taught my son mental math & before 3rd grade my son could multiply 3 digit numbers by 3 digit numbers, + & - by more. BUT bc the school makes him write everything down, he's forgotten how to do it as much. AND he doesn't like math as much now

It always amazes me how snobbish and stuck up people can be, but when their plumbing, HVAC, or septic backs up, all of a sudden they have a existential crisis! Oh no! We have to call the tradesman to fix what our super educated asses can't fix. You're right though, their daughter is likely to marry an Iron Worker, Plumber, or Mechanic if she's truly smart, and family holidays will be awesome as a result.

Both of my kids went to private school. They were both able to skip the first two years of college because they tested good on the CLEP test. Both are grown mow and successful business owners.
