Meet the Man Who Wrote 'Star Wars'

Alan Dean Foster might be the most interesting man alive. The author, weightlifter and sci-fi extraordinaire co-wrote the original Star Wars novels, took karate lessons from Chuck Norris and, to put it lightly, is well-traveled.

I am lucky to know Alan personally: in 2006 he's been the Guest of honor at our sci-fi convention "Aelita" in Yekaterinburg (Russia). Since that time we are good friends. He is really great man and his books are marvelous. The reading that definitely worth time to spend!

My favorite of his works is, near as I can tell, one of his lesser known ones. The Damned Trilogy. Good stuff. But then I'm also fond of the hfy subreddit, which is probably related to why I like said trilogy so much.

It's spelled as "Allen" in the caption, so I was like, "Yea!! Finally, another American Allen spelled this way!!" Becuase there are three "Alan" in my school, and one of them always mock me for being "Allen with the two Ls". And 90% of people spelled my name wrong when they signed my yearbook.

But then, that's when I saw it's spelled "Alan" in the video. :(
