This was truly one of the most awesome intros to a kids show.

I think Hector Elizondo narrated the opening to the series, and I always enjoy his acting in voiceovers and films. Especially in The Pirates of Dark Water!

This was an amazing show that really wasn't meant for children because people straight up died and were murdered a lot. Like being eaten by the dark water alone is pretty horrifying.

And in case anyone was wondering how it ended, in the game you get the treasures, and they combined, then are used against the lich who is responsible for the dark water, which was basically an infection eating the world

Pirates Of Dark Water - interesting premise with an planet Merr(Mer) being devoured by darkness and a guy(unknown prince?) named Ren with a team of Pirates misfits trying to save their world

Epic 😅 a childhood classic ✨️👌🏾 why has this not been remade and finished??? Someone needs to buy out the rights or ownership and finish this story. Ren was a great lead character ✨️ 👌🏾

Show reminds me of Conan The Adventurer a little 😂
This cartoon was so fun to watch on Saturday mornings with a bowl of cereal ahhh the memories 😂😂

I remembered watching this during elementary school and it was a true blast. Sadly, I didn't know it was canceled until around when I was a lot older (mid 20's) when I just remembered this show. If there was a wishlist for this shows, I want this to be remastered with a proper continuation until they find all 13 treasures.

I remember this.. it first aired on Fox Kids from February 25 to March 1, 1991 as a five-part miniseries, it simply entitled "DARK WATER, then it was re-aired on ABC Saturday mornings from September 14 to October 12, 1991 and its second season aired only eight episodes on syndication from November 8, 1992 to May 23, 1993.

The art direction and world building were something else. It could easily be turned into a series like Game of Thrones.
