Челубей обладал огромной силой и поэтому имел копьё длиннее обычного, что делало его недосягаемым для противника. Но Пересвет было не в кольчуге, а в схиме монашеской поэтому копьё его не выбило из седла, а проткнуло насквозь, что позволило сблизиться и нанести удар Пересвету . В итоге погибли оба, но Пересвет остался в седле, а монгол упал стороной к своим, что означало по древнему поверью их поражение.
