1950 Mercury 8 Sedan 255 Flathead V8 - Country Classic Cars

We thought you might like a look at this very well-preserved 1950 Mercury 8 Sedan. It's powered by the original 255 Flathead V8, backed by a 3 spd manual transmission. These Mercurys from 1949 to 1951 were the best looking cars sold at that time in my opinion. It is hard to even find a picture now of one that isn't chopped and lowered. This is one beautiful car Jeff, thanks for sharing !!

When I was a kid I made a plastic model of a 49 Mercury, like you said a chopped top. Cool car and ride.

Very cool, first car I drove as a kid was my fathers 51 Mercury 2-door that he dropped in a 312 and 3-speed on the floor.

The 49 - 51 Mercury was the looker. Better looking than the Fords or the Lincolns of the time.

The flathead V8s did have a inherant over heating problem due to the exhaust flow in the engine block. The two rear cylanders ran hot and would often burn exhaust valves...and they wold vapor lock often.
