First time I've heard this song performed on the banjo. Sounds just great. I've always liked Don McClean. I saw him only once--in Haifa, Israel of all places. I was there on a program sponsored by the Jewish Agency, Kibbutz-University semester.
And he happened to be touring Israel. So we young people from the program all went. It was a lot of fun. He was very popular in Israel. Maybe he still is.

He has the poet's meter. Just when you think he's voicing too late he slips the phrase in.

Don's has the very clearest speech. No question as to what he's saying. Good stuff.

Bob wrote this, as recorded in the notes of his second LP, when he was inspired by some US President's comments about the Military Industrial Complex in the US. If there is a NAZI connection, it is that their methods were imported into the US and used successfully since then. Tyranny begins at home.

McLean speaks on the winds of a chill breeze, with every line making me shiver. …and I’ll stand at your grave and watch till you’re dead with him too.

My dad passed away last week and he had an argument with me about 2 years before about this being a don mclean song, which it wasn’t, no faulter, he was a don fan and that’s where he heard it. Relevant to this day to the people of this planet, we should make sure to look after each other, to ensure we as a race look after each other, to not be taken too far by the lies that are told. May the real people of this earth live forever more, may the wise people of previous generations live on in spirit but really live on in spirit. We will never be broken. We will never be taken. We will look after each other

I have never seen this song by Don McLean, it was so moving! He sings it with such intensity. And I really love it when he plays banjo. 💙

Just love the opening notes especially on the banjo. Among the most famous opening notes in American music.

NOW THAT IS A SONG THAT SOUNDS LIKE A PSALMS. LIKE PSALMS 139 IT BEGAINS VERY NICE BUT ENDING IS HATEFUL BECAUSE WHO EVER DOESN'T LOVE ( GOD IS AN ENEMY OF GOD) THATS WHAT I UNDERSTOOD. THE PSALMS ARE LIKE SONGS. BUT I THINK THEY ARE ALSO PRAYERS. THANKS FOR POSTING THAT POWERFUL PRAYER THAT MAYBE ALSO A SONG. VICE VERSA.

I take no pleasure in seeing the signs and what visions came in my head last night. Biblical!
