There are 2 idler pulleys. So, if replacing one isn’t enough, try both! This is a great and accurate video showing you how!

Hey Ivan, txs for the walk through video.
You did forget 2 pcs: the belt itself (it gets slick and becomes like an long elastic) and the 2nd idler pulley on passenger side before the alternator.

These items are designed for premature wear (like the economy leaky O-Rings, or timing phasers and soft tensioners...) supposed to be replaced together.
The belt tensioner is the best hidden failure... it carvs itself a notch and stops applying proper belt tension, just enough tension to barely grab
😂

Great video. I placed my belt on, correctly but it's still loose. I have the correct belt type. I've installed a new tensioner pulley as well. Any ideas on how to tighten it, or am I looking at a bigger problem?

Hi Ivan, Nice video. This should be applicable for 2012 as well. A before and after video would have helped for sure. My questions. 1. How many miles did you have when you changed the entire belt/tensioner/pulley? 2. Did you really have a need to change the tensioner and pulley since I have read just changing the belt is fine. Of course the dealer forces you to change everything. 3. I did see your diagram on the video. Do you by chance have a link of the belt diagram online somewhere for W166 please? Lastly, the parts links on autohausaz needs to be updated since it doesn’t recognize 2012 ML350 as W166 as well which is probably their loss! Appreciate your reply.

Very informative video! I’m looking to purchase a 2013 ML350 just like yours. I was wondering what mileage you are currently at and how your ownership has been?

Hi Ivan, At 5:40 you meant E12 right…I am hearing as T12. Can you please confirm?

I was hoping replacing the ignition coil on my GLE350 would be an easy job... maybe you know a easier way?

Did you get your pulleys OEM from dealer or autozone etc? Mine does a whining noise but only at cold start. (Not loud but you can hear it and it only lasts about 10-15 seconds).
