In this video I briefly describe what body mass index is, the health risks associated with it and it's limitations. BMI is regularly used to measure whether an individual is underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese. A high BMI ( greater than 25 overweight, greater than 30 obese) is associated with a myriad of health risks BMI has two major limitations. It's accuracy varies by race and is limited in individuals with lean muscle mass.

Body mass index, also known as BMI, is an objective way to describe someone’s height and weight. Overweight and obese BMI are associated with a ton of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and strokes.

I think the BMI is a good simple tool for most people. Even if you have been lifting weights for 10+ years the BMI is usually not going to be off by anymore than 15 percent unless you take steroids.

the thing is that i dont get this might sound stupid i was 15 stone and my height is ft 6, 1 when i started going to the gym and i went to 13 stone and i have slowly gone up to 221 pounds which is 15.7 approx so i dont know how to judge it i have so fat on me i am not denying that but how do i work it out ?

😳😳 mines 22% and am like the skinniest lad?? I started the gym only to gain some muscles but am defiantly not over weight or fat, chubby, if anything am skinny as fuck

Your body mass index does not indicate how heart healthy you are. I can run forever weighing in at 190 pounds. I feel heart healthy. I have a picture of myself playing football as my google profile. I do not encourage steroids in sports. I was able to bench press 215 pounds so easy. Muscle & fitness magazine explains the differences between power and strength. Power is the amount you can lift in a set time. I felt the power. 215 lbs really fast. I will continue to drink protein elipses. I like my high school football coach Tony Becerra in ways.

I think the BMI is a crude tool that underestimates how big somebody is. I've seen people with healthy BMIs and they look rather stocky and large for their height still. It considers somebody at a good/impressive size as way underweight which is crude and a sign of the times. Too many people still glorify obesity as the epitome of wealth, health and success which to me is very unremarkable and "low-class". My parents are some of these people and only think I look good in the overweight BMI category which is very sick. They always pressured me to be overweight because they are sick, outdated people who need to die right now just like a lot of Americans.
