BIOGRAPHY

With a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a Master and Ph.D. in the area of Computer Science, Dr Jha is a researcher and educator in the field of computer science and IT in the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), at Central Queensland University (CQUniversity) in Sydney, Australia. Her research interests include in particular Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems, Business Intelligence, Real-Time Analytics, Legacy System Modernization, and Internet of Things (IoT). She has developed courses on Information Systems Analysis and Business Intelligence using Big Data and Data Science. She is also working in the area of learning analytics, which is an emerging field and uses sophisticated analytic tools to improve learning and education. It draws from and is closely tied to, a series of other fields of study including business intelligence, web analytics, academic analytics, educational data mining, and action analytics. She is a passionate about women in STEM and working on how to improve and enhance women’s power in the STEM field. Dr Jha is a co-founder of WinTECH (Women in Technology) a group dedicated to promoting and supporting girls and women in STEM. WinTECH features two interlinked actions aimed at increasing the number of girls and women participating in STEM through a school program and a series of networking events across the NSW Region for women STEM professionals. This approach is designed to steer women toward STEM, and encourage their retention in the STEM pipeline. She runs number of workshops in Advancing Young and Mature Women in STEM+C.
