Colin Beattie, was regarding as the Hardest Man in Glasgow.
He was never involved in crime, although fights with the police would see him arrested on numerous occasions.

A man if principles, honour and respect, he was respected and feared by both Criminals and Police in Glasgow.

My last comment didnt upload i think.

I just want to say Matt that im very grateful you did such a great video on this true hard/tough gentleman.
I remember mentioning him to you about 8 months or so ago and we had some great discussions on it of which I am thankful.

Mr Beattie was a man like Mr Crossley, Mr Price and others who was loved and respected not just feared and that is so important. We need more fine ambassadors/ influences and role models like this man and others to show that you can be hard and handle yourself and a great fighter etc but also a good guy, stand up to bullies and help the weak and protect women, children and innocent people.

Much love and respect to you Matt. Keeping you and your family in prayer sir
God bless you

I helped this big guy one new year just off byres road. He couldn’t get off the iced up cobbles and had been stuck there for ages…….he kept asking did I know who he was and that I had saved his life..wanted to repay me and asked me over to a pub anytime I’m ready. I’ll never forget his relief that night, good bless him. Was a legend

My dad knew Colin Beattie and always referred to him as a gentleman. Mr Beattie lived in Knightswood for many years, he and his family were well liked and respected by all. His ability is well documented but he was such a gentleman in people's company and that should be noted. His son is now a very successful businessman in Glasgow.

The way you speak about the people who you make a video of is so respectful and courteous which is a truly honest reflection of your own character. Big respect to you 👏👊🥊

Rab Carruthers left Glasgow and became a feared and respected man in Manchester. Was one of the biggest names to come out of Glasgow and certainly made a name all over Britain.

Heard a lot about big Colin, from people who knew him very well. Real gentleman who disliked bullying, and genuinely one of the hardest men to walk the streets in Glasgow. FACT

Know a load of tales of Coly Beattie from good friends of his. The top man in the west of Glasgow and a big fine quiet gentleman till you put a bam across his path. Last 2 tales i was told....Hung a guy out a top floor window for beating his wife up and the crowd below all shouting drop him. And in his later years hanging about outside a pub in partick and a passerby says "you alright Coly*. He says "im just waiting for a furniture van turning up, theres a guy moving out but he doesny know it yet, he, s gave his elderly female neighbour a bit of cheek*. A great legend!!

Dunkie Donaldson from my hometown of Airdrie Scotland. He eventually became a born again Christian and lay preacher, appearing on programmes like Stars on Sunday, the local Airdrie advertiser ran a two week article on him after his death in the late eighties, more a fighting man than a criminal, the facts are obscured by the myths, one goes that when he eventually decided to straighten up in 1965 and attend a church meeting that the congregation quietly melted away out of anxiety of his reputation. I remember him as a young guy cycling to his job as a janitor in a primary school, he only ever seemed to have one hand on the handle bars as he was always waving to some one.
I enjoy your tributes to fighting men. you do it with respect.

Awesome story Matt! Being a yank that has spent quite quite a bit of time around various parts of the UK and Ireland and having a partial Scottish blood line, I've always wondered if there any men such as Colin in those parts that were legendary hardmen. We usually only hear about the main 4-5 hardmen like Lenny, Cliffy, Roy, and others. I've only heard stories from relatives that moved from up that way down to Kent and a few of our relatives over in Wales. Seems like I would have liked Colin, I don't like loud people or bullies either lol.

Sounds like a real nice man.
I've met some very seriously hard men in my life ( I'm almost 71 ) and they all had two things in common.
They were gentle and respectful of women, and they never raised their voice.
Not like today's loud mouthed wannabes, who attack mob-handed, or from behind, or armed with a weapon.

When I was a taxi driver in Yoker and Knightswood in the early 1990s I picked him up several times from his local pub and took him home to Knightswood. He was indeed a gentleman to have in my car. I thought it was great that when I got him home, his wife came to the gate and gave him short shrift for being late for his dinner. He smiled and went indoors. His wife paid his taxi fare and a generous tip.

Left this message on the enquirer's channel as well Matt, could you maybe look into a future video about Mark Ripley of Kent that fought Bartley Gorman. Bartley said that Mark was one of the toughest he ever went toe to toe with but it's virtually impossible to get any info on him.
