Woman of color? Isn’t this the type of woman of color that we are supposed to be making things more difficult for? Like raising the standards on college entry exams? I forget, which types are we supposed to be racist towards again?

I had heretofore assumed the expression "person of color" was code for "not white" or" not of European descent." But apparently, my interpretation is regarded as insufficiently exclusionary to some. Those critics are outraged that a label they claim sole, proprietary rights to has been coopted to describe the mayor elect. And they're even more outraged that voters preferred an Asian-American candidate to her duskier complected opponent, apparently under the assumption that skin tone was the sole criterion worth considering.
