To lose your “lover” because you had to fight a disease you never wanted is just cold.

He really cheated on his wife and she still loved him and defended him. My heart aches for her. What a humble and loving person to stay silent and protect his name. I’ll think of her anytime Dr.Sus is brought up again.

My mom hated Dr. Seuss and his books and never bought them for me as a child. She didn't explain why then. This may have been her reason why.

Her letter to Dr. Suess literally made me cry. "Sometimes think of the fun we had through the years ". I started watching Sloan about 2 years ago when I first broke up with my ex and it was so hard. I thought I was over it all but that last line hit me too hard.

I find it ironic that a guy like him wrote children’s books for a career, but he hates/is afraid of children. And he cheated on his wife with one of her closest friends Audrey, who abandoned her husband and two daughters to be with him. The thing that I find the most infuriating is the fact they married a year after Helen died. Overall, shame on both of them.

This is just so sad to me because we took Dr Seuss so serious at our school. We always read his books, we had and celebrated Dr Seuss day every year where we’d do nothing but read his books all day, and we’d get snacks that were based on his characters. Our lunches were based on his books as well. Every single year in elementary school, and I never knew any of this. Childhood slightly ruined.

This is basically how it was back then, this stuff was so common and normalized. It's always crazy to me that it wasn't even that long ago at all. My mom is 63 and she still had segregated drinking fountains in school, etc.

Off topic, but, you don’t have to be a medical professional to be called a doctor, you can also hold a PhD and be considered a doctor

Dr Seuss & Audrey’s shamelessness is sickening

Finding out someone who you admired as a child because of his books…. is racist? This is so disappointing smh 🤦🏾‍♀️. This is why they say don’t admire celebrities.

Edit: some of y’all need to chill lol. I haven’t followed anything related to dr Seuss since I was in elementary school and I’m in college now. So I’m sorry I didn’t pay much attention to him like I should have.

They literally had a “Dr. Seuss Day” in elementary school, where we ate green eggs and ham and celebrated as if it was a holiday… I’m disappointed…

He's afraid of children because they can see right through him with purest eyes.

Shout out to his family that decided to take some of his work out of rotation. A lot of people came for them but they stood their ground. I was only about “The Cat In The Hat” because that was the only book of his that was in my childhood home. Found out about him 2 years ago (I think) when his family spilled the tea and I was disgusted. But that is what happens when you get older and start to truly understand things. Though a lot of his work is gross…thank goodness it was in rotation as long as it was and will continue to be with the just the information released and the folks that own a lot of his work. Crap like this absolutely SHOULD NOT be hidden. History should be always be revealed; good, the bad, and the ugly.

I'm an 80's baby, and I grew up on Dr. Seuss books. Those were the first books I ever read on my own. As a Black person, I'm sorry to hear of his views; however; I have no regrets. At nearly 40 years old today, I still have an avid love for books and writing.

My 2nd grade teacher absolutely hated this man To the point where if anything related to him within the classroom she would throw it out the window. Truly a woman ahead of her time.

I remember when I heard that Dr. Seuss didn’t even like children. It initially made me carrack up laughing, but you have now shown how disturbing this dude actually was.
