I think it's beautiful how, in the original game, the ashes of Kratos' family represented his terrible sins, but here Faye's ashes represent the love and devotion Kratos has developed, and are ultimately what leads him on the adventure that brings his redemption. In the past, ashes marked him as a monster, but now Faye's ashes are what makes him a better man.

I persuaded my mom to warch me play through this game. To start of with during the first hunt she was skeptic, she could see why I would like it but other than that not much. Especially disliked Kratos for how tough he was on Atreus. After the first fight with Baldur she was mildly intrigued. As we progressed further and further she also started laughing and smiling whenever Atreus said something adorable or when Brok was making fun quips.

As we made it to the serpent she was really getting into the story and even started asking questions regarding Kratos’s past of how he ended up where he did, why he is red and white.

Whenever Sindri was on screen she would laugh all the time at his antics. And when we got to Mimir she was truly invested in the story and was completely in love with Mimir’s wisdom and humor.

Just today we finished the entire game. At this point when the ashes where spread she said she was having shivers and asked when the next game was coming out. She was sorta hyped like a little girl when Thor arrived in the end. (We are both svandinavian so Learning about Thor and Loki is a big deal for her) and she truly loved the father son relationship between the two in the end.

This game managed to catch the interest of someone who hasnt played a proper game since Crash Bandicoot back in 1996!!

She was absolutely invetsed in the cjaravters and the storytelling. It really goes to show just how AMAZING this game is. Its a true milestone in Videogame storytelling.

After this I’ve told her we are gonna play the Last of us xD

This is one of the best endings in a videogame EVER, it truly feels like you have completed a long and incredible adventure, something that only Zelda games aclomplished for me

I always knew that Kratos would call Atreus "son" at the end of the game; even though he's been referring to call Atreus "boy" throughout the rest of the game.

This sense made me cry
but unlike other games in the series that made me cry for being sad
this one made me cry for how beautiful it is, Kratos finally gets a good ending for once.

I love how Kratos has changed...it's like he has returned (or at least he wants to return) to his old normal life as a man with a family...it's like now Atreus is his new oportunity/second chance to recover what he lost with his first wife and Calliope

I beat this game three times already, and I've watched this cutscene online more times than I can count. But this scene never ceases to bring me to tears.

I wish the camera was a little zoomed out and they held up their hand to let the gold ashes fly away at the same time, it would have been a fire screenshot

When you think about it, Faye wanted to return home, so she got Kratos and Atreus to return her home to be free. Beautiful scene. And the music matched perfectly
