Great review! You were spot on about the clip! Thank for the shout out!

As a Taiwanese American, I’m proud that Taichung makes some of the best spydercos. Just ordered a smock!

For those who don't know, Bladeswelove sells a Ti hardware set for the Smock that makes all the body screws T8.

When this knife came out, I didn't find it that compelling. Looked like the forward choil was too small and took too much length from the blade. But I recently bought the knife joy exclusive smock in smooth g10 and 20cv. To my surprise, I'm really digging it. The forward choil fits my finger well and the blade has enough length for me. Came phone book paper sharp. Nice action. It's always nice to get a knife that exceeds your expectations.

Great review! This is one of those knives that I can't decide if I like or not. I would have to get one in hand and see how it feels before I decided to get one.

I really enjoy my Smock. It is great in the pocket. Doesn't have the ergos for me as, say Sage5, but it also doesn't Bogart pocket real estate. I like the aesthetic of the blade, almost reminds me of a scandi grind. Don't carry the Smock much, though due to size limitations I face on the daily. Lots of fun to play with. Drives my wife crazy. And that only adds to the fun.

You might want to add that the secondary detent has been removed in addition to adding the aftermarket pocket clip.
Removing the second detent allows the blade to move freely when the button is depressed. Most owners remove it immediately.

I have this knife and I love it. It is very lefty friendly. It is very fidget friendly. It fits very nice in the pocket. It is a hollow grind and extremely sharp out of the box. The blade also has horizontal grain flowing on the top and vertical grain on the hollow grind, a very nice effect. Feels balanced in the hand. I also really like the height being only one inch. That really give lots of room in the pocket. Also the fit and finish is perfect. I also love the blade shape. The spine of the blade is thick and goes a very long way down to the tip which makes the tip very strong. Only two ding on this knife. The position of the pocket clip. I understand from Kevin Smock that was intentional to get more leverage to retrieve from the pocket. The second ding is the front finger choil. I wish it looked more like the sk23. I wish choil was not as sharp around the edges. Its a little uncomfortable close to the blade. To me this knife is almost the perfect EDC.

I have it and the Benchmade 940, they are almost exactly the same size. May be helpful to know, as that is a super common knife.

The Smock is the most fidget friendly knife I've ever had. Super smooth so many ways to open, and that button/compression lock is awesome. And I've never had Spydercos Carbon lamanet before I actually like it I like the texture of it. But Kevin Smock has posted some G10 scales he's gonna start releasing some one offs.

I’m viewing your video on Sept.1, 2023 and really enjoyed watching/listening because I’m a happy owner of a Spyderco Smock knife.

It's the funnest knife I have at the moment. I'd definitely buy more button compression locks as it's a tad more efficient than an axis lock. But nothing on the horizon from Spyderco it seems.

I'd like to see a variant of this knife where they use anodized aluminum or titanium. Not sure what color would look best but if they could make it two different colors that would really make it pop aesthetically. I'd also like for the handle to look less flat but that's more of a nit-pick. The Smock seems like it's a knife that feels better in hand than it looks and the button compression definitely has the fidget friendly appeal to it.

To me it is basically the same compression lock. I was interested in this knife until you mentioned bearing at the pivot.

As a person who loves lanyards I would love it if all manufacturers started using lanyard standoffs instead of lanyard holes

As a lanyard hole enthusiast, I can wholeheartedly agree that the lanyard hole position should not take priority over the clip. While I really appreciate having a lanyard hole, there are many ways to "hide" a lanyard attachment point so that it doesn't interfere with the clip, or otherwise the design of the knife.

I love this knife... I forgive the BS CF, generally i hate it on other knives, but it works for me here...I tell people it's G10... my favorite office carry.

It would be cool to see you review vintage knives i.e. benchmade cqc7 or spyderco clipits. A lot people don't know spyderco invented the pocket clip on a folder. Or never heard of or seen knives like lone wolf. Just an idea about content.
