UVA Student Spotlight: Dan Xia is Ready to Take on the World

Like many fourth-year students at the University of Virginia, Dan Xia plans to go to medical school. But first he hopes to spend the next two years circling the globe. He especially wants to see for himself how health care is delivered in a range of places.

“I truly believe it is my calling to help people and to connect with people all around the world – whether it be through helping at health clinics, or learning about the communities, or just playing music,” he said.

With all due respect, all of my mother's siblings, 8 of them was born at home when black Americans wasn't allowed to go to hospitals. The best doctors in my life who are the doctors that came to my home. House call. Medical people were in my family as pharmacist and midwives and kept whole communities doing segregation healthy. Global health starts with community base health. In my humble opinion. Good luck in all your endeavors, yes music can be used as a prescription for Better Health.
