Fantastic and detailed look in to the terms changes and alternate options.

I’m disappointed we didn’t get a longer notice from Docker. Maybe they should have announced hey, here is the new 4.0 version, but BTW starting in version 5 we are going to change the terms.

Getting corporations on board with this is going to take a while, and while I could just purchase a license myself, most larger companies have application inventory tools that will now start reporting license violations, because the company doesn’t have a license showing for the detected licensed software.

When will Docker Desktop for Windows 10 support passing USB devices (that are not storage) to containers? This is a huge missing feature imo...

It's called a bait and switch. As for what docker desktop does... next to nothing. I ended up here because I plan to build my own UI. For the (3?) commands DD supports (ps -a, run, start/stop), I'm pretty sure I could build a UI that does that an a lot more. For example, dropping a utility on the running image to allow file browsing, and drag/drop of files into and out of the container. Docker cp is a joke; can't even use it while container is running in a Windows VM. Save? How about a save button to docker commit an image. I can't even copy a damned full tag name in Docker Desktop. Even image sorting options in the UI are lacking. Very weak product, not worth the money. It also constantly fails, with some shim complaining about a failed windows system call.

Just remember open sure, does not mean it's free! Nor should it!
