Keep fighting the women of Nigeria. You are our hero. The world stands united with you. It's outrageous that in the 21st century we still have to fight for women's rights. Keep fighting. God is on your side. You already won. Strenght in numbers, Stay strong, stay united, stay together. Scream scream scream scream. Let your government hear your roar.

Certain religious elements will never allow for women's rights to flourish.
Certain antiquated ideologies need to be eradicated before there can be any advancement of human rights in general.

Greatest respect for that man.
Many African cultures have their roots in the villages, where men were warriors or hunters and women were farmers and responsible for most of the crafts. When men and women came of age, there were ceremonies and rites and after this, the boys were men and earned the respect due to men and the girls were women and earned the respect due to women.
During colonialism, the African people had their cultures and national identities suppressed. After regaining independence it seems that in many African cultures, the roles of the men have been emphasized and the respect due to men is something Africans - who were described by colonialists as "boys" and treated as such - is being reasserted.
But it also seems to me that the roles of women and the respect due to women is often forgotten, sometimes dismissed entierly. In many cases, I feel like an African woman is still a "girl", that colonialism never trully ended for African women.

For that man to come out and say that this is wrong can be taken as "weakness" or even as "an attack" on the culture and values (as they are remembered/interpreted).
To me, rather than hiding behind privilege and unfair laws, he stood up and said "this is wrong!" - to me, this makes him more of "a man" than someone who beats his wife and says it's his right based on his culture.

I stan Feminism, i am a feminist.
A feminist is someone who supports equal rights for women. If your brother objects strongly to women being paid less than men for doing the same job, he's probably a feminist. If you believe that women should have the same political, social, and economic rights as men, you are a feminist.

They probably don't even fully understand what feminism and its spectrums are, they've just seen Europeans doing it and thought let's do that too, stop copying Europeans ffs, you have your own culture.

Make sure you add mandatory military service and no alimony or uneven divisions for anyone in divorce. With equality comes responsibility.

What are the so-called basic rights that Nigerian women are denied of that exist in other Countries ? They should be quiet, and stop making loud noises. Most Nigerian women depend entirely on their husbands for almost all their basic needs, and that of their children.
