All large insurers are using AI. But they have a HUGE amount of data, underwriting and pricing experience, and market share. And this explains why they continue to crush Lemonade.

Why not invest instead in an innovative large insurer that is profitable NOW?

Thank you for the info. My initial thought is that surely the giant insurance companies like State Farm. USAA, Farmers, etc. have tons and tons of data from decades of dominance and most certainly are also investing heavily in AI. And they have 500x more capital to spend on R&D than Lemonade. Other than being burdened with more legacy physical & human infrastructure (buildings, employees, etc) my question is, what do you think prevents them from doing what Lemonade is doing and remaining dominant? Also, what is to prevent a company like State Farm from simply acquiring Lemonade if they wanted to?

In case some of you didn't know; Lemonade is not yet available in all states. I live in New York and I have been on the waiting list for a year now. I am waiting so I can buy a policy and test the service out myself. If I like it then I would feel much better holding the stock through the ups and downs (Mostly downs). I would also imagine a lot more policies would be sold once they are available here.
