Battle of the Bulge was the Germans last great attack in WWII. One of the key battles that took place was the Battle of the Elsenborn Ridge. On the morning of December 16th 1944, the Axis forces used artillery to bombard the American 99th Infantry Divsion. This barrage was soon followed by the 12th and 277th Volksgrenadiar divisions and Tiger Tanks. Wave after wave of Germans cost the 99th many casualties but they fought hard and were able to keep the Axis from advancing. Soon, reinforcements from the 1st and 2nd Infantry Divison helped the 99th to send the Axis into retreat, for the remainder of the Second World War.
