It comes up all the time. Which is the better athlete? Football players are some of the most strong, resilient athletes in the world, but basketball players possess some of the most vital characteristics for any athlete. So it's time to decide (or not!)... let me know in the comments!

From an athletic standpoint it’s football players. However, basketball players are truly gifted because they have great athleticism and a great amount of skill

In terms of strength, explosiveness and toughness football players. In terms of full body coordination and endurance basketball players. Both are top athletes across the sports world though. Also would make argument for gymnasts and mixed martial artists as the best athletes.

I think they are equally as athletic just different demands.

Raw athletic ability? Football hands down. Yet elite basketball players are much more rare and require complete skillsets at insane levels.

I have seen many ballers become good football players...As a matter of fact, we got many players in the NBA who could have found their way in the NFL. But it is more scarce the other way around!! Which tells me all i want to know ...

basketball takes much more precision and skill than football. Basketball athletes also have way more endurance and get less breaks.

As a powerlifter it’s amazing how many strength freaks footballers can produce with weightlifting as a second priority

Look at the NFL and NBA combine stats and its clear football players are the better athletes. But as you say, each sport has different demands and to me basketball is just a much more elegant and creative form of athleticism.

I feel like this video could’ve focused more on receivers coming off the line to beat press coverage or at the top of their routes. Your athleticism in football isn’t only displayed when you have the ball in your hands. Acceleration, deceleration, remaining low to the ground and having the strength to beat a jam would best be observed at the WR position in my opinion. Still a great video.

It's very simple both are athletic and both are gifted athletes!🏈🏀

Its hard to generalize football because the way you play will differ depending on the position/role you play on the field. I would say receivers, running backs, cornerbacks or even tight ends may be the most similar to basketball players. Whereas in basketball, all 10 players need to move similarly, although different speeds.

generally taking into account all positions, football players are stronger and more explosive, basketball players are more skilled and agile. it really depends on how you define athleticism

You didnt mention how nfl players wear protective, tight clothing which makes movement even harder, not to mention added weight

It’s a tough comparison because football has a lot more specialization based on position.

I played college basketball, and I'm also extremely good at football (flag highlights on channel ;p) but football is clearly the more athletic sport in terms of raw power and speed. Basketball players are more coordinated though and are often more genetically gifted in terms of wingspan/height/athleticism etc

You missed the most important part, the physical demand of football is years above basketball. And that is what really puts football players over the edge for me
