Saw the original trailer when I was a kid. They actually had the nerve to show it during prime time. When kids watched the TV. it's forever a part of NH childhood trauma

I remember the previews of this movie. Scaring the shit out of me when I was little.

I was barely 3 when the commercials for this movie came out and I still remember it. It’s taken me this long to look up the trailer for the movie to actually see it and revisit my intense traumatic experience as a toddler watching it. I would get so terrified that I would scream and run so fast that no one could catch me and I’d run into walls, cabinets or whatever and knock myself out trying to get away from the tv and Haley Mills character. I do remember it vividly. I remember seeing other scary movie trailers but not being terrified of them or having nightmares about them. I’m almost 48 now and I’ve never watched it or looked it up although I’m a horror movie fan but I do suffer night terrors so I have certain themes that I do not watch and certain times at night that are too late for me . But it was a horrible experience.

This movie was made in Italy and also went by the title The Devil Within Her. It had some commercial success until Warner Bros. sued for copyright infringement because they claimed that it was nothing more than a knockoff of The Exorcist. It was around this time that demon possession and haunted house movies became popular. I saw this movie on tv 10 years after it was made. I had never heard of it and just thought what the hell it was the only thing worth watching at the time. I remember this movie scaring me as much as The Exorcist. If you get a chance to ever see this movie, watch it by yourself in the dark.

I remember seeing the posters for this movie at the local theater when I lived back east in ‘74. I was about 7 yo then. I used to see the trailers on tv and it would scare the shit outta me. I’m 54 now living on the west coast and now this movie is somewhat of a comedy just like The Exorcist is to me. So many campy effects compared to today’s horror movies. I can’t help but chuckle if I see it on tv now.

This movie was on the tv one night when I was in bed with my mom because I had a nightmare. I think I was like 4 yrs old. My father worked nights and we were alone. We were asleep and I woke up just in time to see the mothers head turn to face her child with this huge evil grin on her face. I don’t think I had a good nights sleep for about a month after that.

This is CLEARLY a sign! Never seen this or heard of it until rumning across it on another channel that was discussing The Exorcist. I am completely hooked! The cinematography is gorgeous 😍 ive been inspired to FINALLY start my horror channel where i will delve into all things horror including films, books, games ect and THIS is going to be the very first film i cover!

If you did NOT see this in a movie theatre in 1974: you PROBABLY saw this on the CBS Late Movie circa 1979, on a Friday night at 11:30 .

What an eerie trailer. it has creepy images and it's mostly silent with not a lot of dialogue. I'm sold on checking this out.

This was a drive-Inn movie back in 74-75. It always creeped the shit out of me. Just on the heels of The Exorcist, it was pretty good make-up for its time. The movie always comes up in casual conversation but when it is mentioned, people still say "That was a scary fucking movie"!

I guess I was about 5 or 6 years old when my parents took me and my 12 year old brother to see this movie. It scared the shit out of me so much that I was afraid for a week and also got sick too. Until today I refused to see this movie again 🤷‍♂️
