Collecting My 2nd Taycan: Sport Turismo 4S!!

Addicted to the Electric #porsche #EV! My second #Taycan has been a strange saga - I didn’t get anything that I planned for! Originally I wanted the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo - but the huge increase in price and 2 year wait list put the kibosh on that idea!

So I decided to get another Cross Turismo 4S, as I had done 25k miles in mine and loved every minute! So i spec’d one from scratch in Neptune Blue with double the spec that I had last time - and it got to the stage of the car being built and photos if it being sent to me in the “My Porsche” app. 😅 Then I got a call from Porsche Reading, a Sport Turismo just became available, and I decided to take it!

It’s not perfect, it’s not what I planned for, and I’ve had to retrofit stuff - but I think it’s a win!

Today I’ll run through the spec, advice on how to spec a Taycan 4S along with must-haves and pitfalls - and I’ll even go over their in car purchases for services like Innodrive, called function on demand (it’s better in practice than you think).

Before all that a tour of the new Porsche dealership concept, first seen here at Reading!

Up next on RBR is the review of one of my cars!! Subscribe to support us and see it first. :)

CT4 owner here -- this is my take on options:

Must Haves:
- Surround View -- I really can't imagine not having this, the car is huge.
- Performance battery (standard on CT thankfully). Range in the winter is pretty poor as you said.
- Sport Chrono -- I change modes pretty frequently, primarily to alter ride height, but I do wish the compass was more sunken into the dash. It's also pretty expensive but I'm glad I optioned it.
- Rear wheel steering -- I'd have to three point turn into my garage without it.
- Lane change assist -- it's insane this isn't standard on a $100k car

I have several other options I'm happy with, but those are the ones I couldn't live without. I'm keeping an eye on used 4S's but wouldn't consider one without them.

4:55 Looks to be Carmine Red. Just picked up our 2023 Taycan 4S Cross Tursimo last week, and what incredible machines they are indeed! Congrats on your 2nd Taycan!

I bought a 2021 Taycan Turbo S with almost every option. I have to say, it's probably the best car I've owned/driven. The Taycan was never on my radar but I'm super happy I got it. Porsche did an amazing job, I can understand why people love Porsche's so much.

I love this car.
I could never have thought I would say this about an electric car, until the day Porsche loaned me a Taycan Turbo. It blew me away.

I would say for your ST the silver rims would look MEGA. It will tie in with the Crayon interior, silver badging as well as the Gentian Blue paint. The Neodyme / White Gold rims would look good however I would find it a little busy or tacky as then you have a blue exterior, gold wheels, red brake pads, silver badging, and crayon interior.

Michael Grady - the sales manager at Porsche Reading - is the rudest guy on the planet. He eventually apologised for his rude behaviour to me in an email.

I just landed here and, OMG, the special effects on these videos are out of this world! Amazing! Congrats.

I wish we had ST in other trims in the US but it’s only offered at the GTS level. Like you mentioned my GTS ST has been on order for 18 months. I’m finally expecting delivery in 3 weeks. Also got gentian blue. Very excited!

There are no bad-looking Taycans. My GTS ST arrives in around 8 weeks. Have to disagree on the pano roof. Its a no for me (I very rarely have rear passengers). No mention of Rear Axle Steering? As you say, it's a big car and this is definitely something people should look out for on any spec of Taycan

I personally like the look of the original cross turismo. I like the more rugged outback look. I vote to stick with the factory wheels and no side sticker! Also hate fake EV sound would never pay for that!

The little puns on Mercedes truly speak volumes here haha, guess roken is falling in love with Porsche🤣

Can’t believe you’re not a fan of privacy glass 😅
For this sort of car I’d say it’s a must and adds to the look 👌🏻

Tough call on the wheel colors, I do love the white gold, and I do love how they look currently with the machined over black, and I clearly love them in matte black like the GTS, but, I think straight silver would suit this the best IMO.... and I've never liked the Porsche side stripe, but it looked good here

Great review. My vote: keep some black in the wheels, matches the trim. Have fun with it - you should do a head to head and compare vs the Benz 63s. If you need an extra driver I’d be happy to oblige 😉

Wonderful car! 👍👍

I've ordered a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo in this beautiful blue, getting it September!

Including all options on the drive train.... 😉

I can tell you what, this Gentian Blue is so much better looking on the Taycan than that Neptune Blue, I think the only Porsche Neptune would really work on IMO would be the 911, and it's not available unless you do the second stage of Paint to Sample where you'd supply your own sample....but once going that far, I definitely wouldn't go for that blue regardless lol, the only blue I would even consider would be a Gulf Blue over Heritage Cognac.... and it still wouldn't be my first or third paint choice 😅

Not a fan of estate/wagons, but I make an exception for this one.

I have a Taycan Sport Turismo GTS with a lot of options that came with this "stock" car. This included a few options that I would not have ordered, but which I am now very happy with:

- Porsche InnoDrive
Works better than expected on b-roads. If you enter your route on your satnav, the car automatically drives the route. That means that about 90% of the route is correctly recognised and followed by the car. Stoplights are not recognised and without intervention, the car would drive through red lights. Also if the map does not match reality, it can make mistakes. On Dutch motorways, InnoDrive works less well because at just about every crossing overpass the car thinks the speed limit is going to change from 100 to 130km/hour. You solve this easily by switching between InnoDrive and ACC.

- 360 parking camera
The car is a lot wider than expected after all. The cameras where I can see the kerbs all around do seem to be used quite a lot.

- Alcantara steering wheel with heating
Just because it feels great. I now always have the pre-heating on before I leave.

- Intelligent Range Manager
A small piece of software that is very important for planning your trip/charging stops. Just removes a lot of range anxiety.

- Alcantara trim
The Taycan has a sports car feel. Alcantara trim adds to that in my eyes. Is it something you must necessarily tick on the order list? No, but cool nonetheless.

Of course, I agree with this movie that a Taycan should have at least:
- battery pack plus
- Heat pump
- Sportchrono package

About which options I would doubt:
- Electric door of the charging point (I had to have it because it's so cool. But the other day the door refused. Then suddenly you don't get very far).
- Glass roof. I have it. Beautiful thing, but if I had to cut the budget I would leave this option.

Just on the weird 1970s grey windscreen bit... you need that or the laminated glass to option the head up display. We were looking at a Gentian Blue 4s CT yesterday, but are very tempted by the cherry metallic. Choices, choices...

Good example why In-Car-Purchases are in fact not so bad as some people like to think. For people who buy used car it can be really helpful to buy features, which the original user maybe didn't need.
