Welcome to Kitchen Garden Therapy channel. My name is Slava, I live Chicago, IL, zone 5b. Here I share my experience with growing my food from seed and practicing permaculture principles. I am an avid cook and herbalist, love fermenting and canning what I grow. My garden is a very small urban backyard, I am growing in ground, raised beds, cold frame and a little greenhouse. Sometimes gardening is viewed as hard and stressful, my purpose on this channel is to show how therapeutic and rewarding it can be. And how great it is to be at one with nature. I find it to be specifically important in urban areas where people are so alienated from nature. No matter where you live and how much space you have, you can start small and grow together with your garden, eat what you grow and grow what you eat. Hope you find my ideas and experience useful in your gardening journey.

Thank you for sharing more perennial vegetables! I didn't know about perennial broccoli or Turkish rocket. I appreciate you sharing the seed company information too.
For sea kale, I have excellent germination rate from Fedco seeds, another source had much lower germination rate. I also removed the outer husk, put into moist potting soil, covered the container with plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks before placing outside in an unheated cold frame in February (I live in zone 8a.) Refrigeration wouldn't have been necessary if I had started the seeds in the cold frame earlier.

Very cool plants! Apparently Brussels sprouts and regular kale is perennial in South Texas 😂
I have a 1 year old Brenda and a kale going on 3 years old.
I should give him a name 🤔
