Trying the most popular Flowing Somen (Nagashi Somen) restaurant in Japan.

A fun summer dish where you try to catch cold noodles sliding down bamboo poles!

Incredibly gorgeous location, but I don't need this fast paced kind of anxiety with my lunch. 😂

Your partner sharing some of the Pink noodles you missed is so wholesome 😭

There's actually a way you can tell when the noodles are coming! If you look carefully there's like a small burst of water about half a second before the noodles come out. Gives you time to prepare.

Nagashi Somen is eaten during the hot summer months and originated before the development of modern air conditioning. The flowing water helps keep the noodles cool, which conveys a refreshing sensation when eaten by diners.

I would fail badly at this and end up not catching any of the noodles. But this concept is so unique and I love the sounds of the waterfall in the background

From the title and the thumbnail this looks like such a peaceful, meditative experience, but it's more like being a bear trying to smack salmon out of the river, except you're a vegetarian bear and the river is a log flume ride.

Dipping noodles, but your reflex is pretty much tested here. Pretty creative to say the least, you eat AND train at the same time!

"And the dipping sauce is Soya base with added bonito flavoring" *sips sauce*
Noodles: Bye have a great time!
... "Which is refreshing and salty at the same time"

Kyoto is beautiful and people there are so nice. I had an exchange program once in our school with students of high school in Kyoto. The locals of Kyoto were so hard working and happy, made me wish to stay there forever.

THAT'S IT! I am definitely starting my Italian restaurant where you sit on the floor and the staff throws meatballs at your face.

Japan has such creative restaurants. The experience adds to the elegance of the meal. I've only been in Japan once, a four hour layover in the Osaka airport. I didn't eat but it was a very pleasant wait.

I've eaten here! My Japanese teacher took us when we went with our high school class. We hiked up the mountain the whole way and stopped to wade in a shallow river cause it was hot an muggy. We had no idea where we were going except that there was a restaurant at the top. We were luckily able to take the bus back down. I would love to visit again! It was very fun to catch the noodles.

How fun! The noodles go by much faster than expected! I'm left handed, so this would be a very challenging meal for me.
