What's the best ELECTRIC SPACE HEATER for an RV? (We use the Broan 'BIG HEAT'!)

AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage – only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on YouTube are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

One caution note with running ceramic heaters to supplement your propane furnace may cause holding tanks to freeze in certain types of campers where tanks are in a separate compartment. Such as truck campers where they rely on air ducting into the holding tank space. You may be nice and toasty but not the holding tanks.

We have removed the propane tanks on our vintage '76 Airstream and gone full electric. On chilly nights we use a tower ceramic heater that oscillate. It has a thermostat and 2 speeds. It's bigger than your box unit but the oscillation makes a difference.

I use Comfort Zone from Walmart. They’re $20. I use them in my house because I don’t want to use propane. They’re small and you can easily adjust the temp. They shut off if tipped. I have a 1, 700 sf house and all I need are 3 of them to heat it. I’m going to be living in a RV full time when my house sells. One will heat an entire RV no problem so it’s what I’ll be using.

I have one of these "magic" little heaters. I not only use in our camper during the winter, but I also take it to our rustic hunting cabin in Northern Oh. And we use a generator there. Believe me that this little box is worth its weight in Gold.  Smelling hot coffee and feeling the heat from this thing, makes getting up really early possible to get out of the bed.

Thank you for the info.  We are new to RV'ing and I watch all your videos.  I had never even thought of using a heater and after watching the video we scheduled a one night camp out.  While gathering up the items to pack I saw a small electric heater and put it in the trailer.  About 10 o'clock a cold front hit and the temperature dropped.  I turned on the PROPANE heater and the camper warmed up.  Several hours later it started to cool down and heater would not come on.  I switched the propane bottles and both bottles were empty.  Your video on an electric heater saved us from a very cold night.  It got down to 32 degrees and we stayed warm due to our electric heater.  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Oil filled space heaters are for sure the safest and the best.I own a 38 FT Camio Carriage.I put 2 oil heaters in the living room and a red honeywell for the back. That red honeywell is by far the safest best unit I have used The thermostat works like a dream too.

I like the radiator electric space heaters. No forced air so it makes no noise, and when it's off it still radiates out heat for a little while until the thermostat kicks it back on. Walmart sells them for around 35-ish dollars.

Oh, yes. Mrs. and I used our small electric heater any time we could plug in. Another advantage was the relative quiet.

We love our Holmes ceramic heater. It does a great job but the best feature is that you can set it to come on at any time you want. The best example is when we set if for about an hour before we get up. We like to sleep in a chilly temp but once we are up, its nice not to have to jump into a cold bathroom or living area.

I used the same space heater; two of 'em in my older 36' NuWa. One lasted one winter season and quit during the second season (just over the one year warranty. Nine months of non use). The second lasted the second and most of another winter. Reliability and longevity are problems. Another problem was the heating elements clogged with dust because there was no dust filter. I had to disassemble the second unit for cleaning and that was a complicated mess. I put an AC open cell foam dust filter on the outside of the air intake. It did not last long enough to know if that worked or not. PS I watch you guys. Keep it up.

I have used the Lasko 6435 Designer Series Ceramic Oscillating Heater with Remote Control for more than 5 years now (same heater) and it was the ONLY heater needed for our 30' Jayco and 2 for our 2 bedroom 5th wheel. These can operate at 750 or 1500, have temperature control and oscillation. This heater also uses apx 26 cents per hour to operate (apx $8 per month). One thing that I would add is that during the night 64-66 degrees is a good temperature for deep hibernation sleep. I installed a 20k BTU propane heater and at the end of the first 20 lbs tank in a week I pulled that right back out. My most recent purchase for a hunters camper was a Guide Gear Outdoor Wood Stove. I'll let you know next winter how it goes.

Caution! In a motor home, the gas furnace also may heat the under bays where pipes may reside. The use of supplemental heat may require you to also provide heat for the plumbing. Otherwise a great idea.

Thanks a lot for the review on the Broan Heater. We bought one after watching your review and we are both amazed at how much heat comes from such a small heater.
Great video and keep them coming as we enjoy watching and we are subscribers too. Love those videos!!!!

I've had a Lasko ceramic with remote for about 4 years now, in a 37 foot Class A. The feature that I love, is that I can set it to go awesome hour after I retire. And come on an hour before I get up.

This heater is awesome! We bought it this winter and used it this weekend in our camper van since we had power hook ups. It was perfect! Thanks!

FYI - All electric heaters are equally efficient. They all turn 100% of the electricity into heat. That said, the ones with a fan might be better at distributing the heat so you don't have too much difference in temperatures in the area you're trying to heat.

Hello, I love to watch your videos. I just searched for this Broan Big Heat, and it seems to be unavailable now. I know it's an old review, but I was wondering if you have an alternative electric heater that you recommend.
