I love the idea of shipping two people who are technically already a couple, feels extra wholesome

Both Anya's parents getting angry on her behalf is the sweetest thing in this episode. It just show how commited they are not just for their mission and personal benefits, but also as a family and a guardian for Anya. Their true feelings won this time. Loid was ready to abandon his duty for Anya's sake. Also yea, Loid getting defensive for Yor is❤️

Anya has been adopted and abandoned by multiple families and that already breaks my heart, when that teacher asked which mother Anya prefers, that crossed the line

I love how the teachers were lenient with Anya's speech cos she's a child. They prolly understood "Eating operas every weekend" as in the Forgers are wealthy enough to be eating expensive opera cakes regularly

Loid just pulled a "F%CK MISSION, My Baby is crying" 😂😂

Anya didn’t say the part about the “mission” out loud near the end. Whenever you see the subtitles italicized, it means it’s indicating their inner thoughts. So Loid only heard her say that she wanted to go to school.

And besides the family picture falling being perceiveable as an ill omen, it’s more ominous to Japanese speakers, because the word for “fall/fell” is the same word for “fail” (as in a test / interview).

And though Housemaster Swann was very sexist, it’s indicative of their times. This is set in a fictional world similar to the beginning of our cold war, so it’s like 1960s - 1970s values. That’s why it’s suspicious for women in their late 20s to be still single and the interview required both parents to be present.

Loid is actually nervous about the interview because the success of the mission not only depends of him but also of Anya and he like to do things alone. But I also like to think he cares about Anya´s future.

"She's not even my real wife in the first place"
yet you've already fallen for her

Anya was able to read the cows mind~! maybe not actual sentences, but she can atleast understand the emotions they're feeling

Loid brings a whole new meaning to being "prepared", he's such a perfectionist!! The Housemaster rightfully finding the scary is valid 😅

btw 14:18, the picture frame fell but did not break. in films, it's the broken picture frame that causes "bad omen". a lot of fans interpret this as whatever challenges they face as a family, they will not break apart.

A picture falling off the wall is normally considered a bad omen, but it also usually breaks. I like the little touch that the picture doesn't break, and they can hang it right back up again. Basically, they've suffered a setback but will bounce right back.

And I'm pretty sure Anya can read and maybe even influence animals' minds. The cow definitely responds to her touching its nose, and I think they use the sparkles that indicate when Anya uses her powers.

7:54 I'd say Loid feels nervous because for the first time ever the outcome of his mission isn't something HE can do something about, it's something that relies heavily on others (aka Anya). So no matter how prepared he is, everything can be for naught if Anya 'fails' her part.

My guess at 7:45 why he's so nervous is because he doesn't have complete control. It depends on Anya and Yor to do good as well for this part of the mission to succeed.

Seeing you two giggle together while watching Anya's antics is Therapeutic🖤

Anya’s expressions just get better and better. She quickly turned into one of my all time favorite child characters. Just wait until smug Anya starts appearing. 😆 Another great reaction vid, thanks!

"If this mission fails" Anya said that in her mind
it's a small detail but if the font is slanted then that means they say it in their mind...

Plus, because this is a spy series (and has a 1960s-1970s vibe), there's parallels to the Cold War - the spy conflict between the US and the Soviet Union that lasted from 1947 to 1991.

To avoid being "suspicious", many spies got married and started families (or put on the facade that they got married) to avoid being the subject of suspicions and paranoia. This also happens in SpyxFamily, as seen in episode 2 (where several single women were briefly took in by the secret police after being labeled "suspicious").

During the punch part
Twilight: I must remain calm and restrain myself. We are just a pretend family
Loid: HOW DARE U TALK TO MY DAUGHTER AND MAKE HER CRY U-
His Loid mindset nearly won(as he went for the punch) and his Twilight mindset stopped him in time(By punching the table)
