In medieval France, knight Rutger Hauer and lady fair Michelle Pfeiffer both run afoul of evil-bishop John Wood. Through the auspices of bishop's confessor Leo McKern, Hauer and Pfeiffer are placed under a curse. During the night, Hauer takes the form of a wolf, while Pfeiffer assumes the form of a hawk by day. The two lovers can only meet one another as humans at dawn and dusk. The only mortal in a position to rescue Hauer and Pfeiffer from their fate is nebbishy pickpocket Matthew Broderick, who acts as liaison between the lovers. With the help of the guilt-ridden McKern--and a convenient solar eclipse--Broderick endeavors to set things aright.

One of the most tragically beautiful scenes put on film and not a single word is spoken.

RIP Rutger Hauer - you were a legend. And this film is one of the most underrated fantasy flicks ever. You are missed. 75years old is still too young to go.

Navare's scream after she flies away is the ultimate anguish a heart can feel.

" Always together, eternally apart" this is the scene when I cry no matter how many times I've watched this.

I remember paying to see this in the theatre eight times when it first released, and watched it countless more on HBO as a kid. I don't care if it's dated, it still one of my all time favorite films, and moments like this are why. <3

Ladyhawke and The Princess Bride where movies and book that had classic story / fairy tale themes and concepts - subverted expectations in the greatest way possible.

An absolutely perfect example of how one needs no speech to express feelings. Just eyes. Just looks.

The scene that broke millions of hearts including mine.

So beautiful when they AAALMOST touch only to be cruelly denied at the very second...

A stunning scene, pure looks accompanied by Alan Parson's brilliant soundtrack. Always moved me to awe and sadness.

Awesome scene. No words, just the aching tenderness of the music. No one could replace Rutger. I cry every time I see this.

The scene itself was emotional enough, but when Navare screamed at the end that really made it even more heartbreaking.

I named my 11 year old daughter Isabeau.
I was 1000%, a LadyHawke nerd that was born in 1978.

Rutgers Hauer- you are part of my childhood heart.
I know every line of this movie.
It was SO well done.
The music was even better.

I just watched this movie for the first time ever and this scene was so moving. Two powerhouse actors given a real moment to shine. You can see an entire story play out in just their expressions and letting the music guide you. The movie had some dated elements sure - but this scene is truly captures one of the timeless elements of love.

"The powers of Hell spat up a terrible curse, " and the effect of that curse is to know what Hell feels like. When you know you love someone, they love you, and it both of you can do absolutely nothing about it. Grew up with this movie and love every minute of it.

The most heart touching scene of the movie. Both actors are great in it. Rutger of course nailed it. True legend. ❤
