Improve Civil 3D large surface performance using the Map Display Manager

In this (10 min) video, I show how to use several tools within the Map Display Manager tab of the Map Taskpane to improve performance when working on large Civil 3D surface objects. In short, we off load the contour display responsibility to Map which can process the information substantially faster than Civil 3D.

Mr Jerry, in elevation analysis the default rainbow color set red is the lowest elevation and purple is the highest, how can i set two color respectively represent high&low and other elevation color is gradient between them automatically.

Jerry do you have any hardware recommendations for large surfaces? I have a 500 acre site with 128MB surface created from LIDAR. Every time I orbit Civil3D freezes. Sometimes Civil3D will freeze from just panning. I upgrade my hardware to a 32 GB RAM and add a $600 video card and still have problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
