Never sell your laptop. Just throw it in a volcano.

Always sell your laptop with no HDD or replaced HDD.

You have to delete everything, then fill the disk again with fake data, then delete the fake data.

Format the hdd, then fill it with anything that’s not useful and doesn’t contain your identity. Do this for at least 2 to 3 times. This will help in masking the original content of the hdd.

Occasionally I pick up old computers from the side of the road. Crazy thing is about half of them are never reset and still retain personal information such as financial documents, family photos, etc. While I always format the drives for other uses, if their information got into the wrong hands, it could be dangerous. Also, I hope they made backups of their data lol.

To the people saying you should delete, everything, write a bunch of fake data, etc.
Why not just have a program completely overwrite all of the data as 0s?
Can't recover shit from that

I removed the HDD from my laptop, wrapped it in cling film, then put A LOT of vaseline on it, and stuck it up my bottom. I had recently seen a documentary on drug mules, and I may have been mistaken by some of the techniques used by drug mules in this documentary.

My bowels are ruined, of course.

There are methods of wiping data that are used or were created by the DoD to prevent a full restore of all deleted info. I'm sure anyone watching this channel is probably familiar with what im talking about though

How to properly erase hard drive:
-Degaussing (big ass magnet)
-Hammering it
If you have an SSD then hit it with a hammer
EDIT: secure erase is virgin, Chadforce V1 45000BC update is better

Selling a computer and laptop? Replace the SSD/HDD entirely and if you do not need it dispose of it properly, you can recover stuff from formatted and deleted files as shown because it is not truly deleted.

That is why we should have a law that make it punishable to recover data without persons knowledge and consent. Even you wouldn't use it for crimnal activity, you make it possible for other criminals to potentially get data and use it for their benefits. Not everyone is computer genius how computer stores data and where it stores it.

Just wipe your HHD/SSD/Storage Medium and then sell it. That will remove stored data from your storage medium completely.
Deleting and formating actually does not delete your data. It just removes your data from the partition table. It does not delete it because it will be waste of time to overwrite your data with null charachters in storage. You can just make that space available to overwrite new data.

So! wiping overwrite every block of sotrage so that not any trace of previous data left.
Reformating multiple time is not going to you in any way. You will be just deleteing only partition table again and again.
So just wipe it
or overwrite your whole storage meduim with new data if you wants to waste your time.

Typical problem. Old people don't realize much about laptops, sell them away with all personal data. It's just they have not much knowledge about tech and internet risks.
Erase everything is important before sell it away.

Before selling your HDD or laptop with HDD. Full clean your HDD.

HDD doesn't fully delete your data when it's deleted, rather it just delete the entry of files. So anyone can restore back your data.

This shouldn't be problem for SSD.

Idk why they made this thing like that. Probably because of HDD is much slower.

Just put viruses on your old laptop and let the games begin for the poor sucker who dares to boot that bad boy up. 😂

This happened to me when buying a Samsung galaxy note…. The person who sold me that phone forgot to remove the sd card.
I took the sd card and connected it to my pc and I saw all personals photos ….

I think ltt review a thumb stick that could delete and format your storage so that no trace of prior data could be restored.
