Abstract
Wireless networks are becoming heavily congested, and it is now difficult to find available spectrum bands to allocate new services. TV White Space networks are being studied to bring new and valuable spectrum for everyday use. In this talk we will focus on the indoor use of TVWS networks, which can provide a better coverage compared to traditional wifi networks in the 2.4 or 5 GHz spectrum bands. Starting from spectrum measurements, large scale studies for two particular use-cases will be presented and discussed. Then, focusing on video streaming, we will see how TVWS operated networks can be effectively used in conjunction with other technologies, to offload part of the data transfer, and eventually provide and improved quality of experience for the end user.
